1973 18 hp evinrude Driver Coil test

To my ear, it runs pretty well. Think I would put it on a boat and run it -- tweak the idle adjustment after a good run or two.

    1958 Fastwin Not Getting Fuel

no primer bulb used with the pressure tank system. Manual fuel feed is the button on the tank in front of the handle. If you put a bulb in the fuel hose, take it out and use a straight connector to reconstruct the hose, or get a new hose.

1960 Johnson 75hp. Backfired; stripped head threads for plug

Might have been an insert that wasn't properly installed or gave way. Smooth bore in the plug hole would indicate that, although likely the threaded portion would have remained on the plug. Compression could have popped it. Make sure you are using the Champion plugs recommended by the factory.

    1956 Lark Weak Spark?

But need to look at the coils to check condition, as mentioned. Cracked casings mean they need to be replaced. Believe there is an inspection port under an aluminum cover on your flywheel; otherwise pull the flywheel with a harmonic balancer puller, and have a look at the coils.

    1999 50hp Johnson 2 stroke won’t start

As discussed above, you need 3/8 inch spark. This is measured with an open air tester -- need to get one of these cheap devices at an auto parts store, if you don't have one in your tool box. How did you test for spark? Once you know for sure you have solid spark from a strong ignition, you...

One has a one piece shift rod that requires removal of the powerhead to access the shift rod connection (one piece rod, vs. two piece on the other model). The shift rod needs to be disconnected to access the water pump...

You can measure spark with an open air tester (cheap) to test ignition system. Look for 1/2 inch sharp spark. You can check fuel for contamination. Sample fuel at the bottom of the tank. In a glass jar, any water will be seen at the bottom. If you put any solvents in the tank to "clean the...
