Basket case 4.3, gonna have some questions

Here's the diagram for later model with ThunderboltV. White/Grn goes from distributor to shift interrupt. I'd have to believe earlier version is same same.

New 5.7 vortec sucking air at caburetor, replaced everything and still not fixed!

Seeing as how that isn't a marine carburetor you just built a bomb. Not good. Definitely need to get rid of the 1905 and get the real thing. And not to just toss that out, why marine carburetors are different: a boat is a bucket. Gas fumes sink. Any leakage on a car part, like a carburetor or...

Part numbers internals on early ('91) Gen2 Power Steering Control Valve

Exactly. I have a customer weld project to finish and I'll get some help and see where it is leaking this weekend.

Part numbers internals on early ('91) Gen2 Power Steering Control Valve

My steering control valve is leaking into the bilge. I still need to clean it up one more time and see if I can isolate the leak. Not the hoses or hose connections. My Manual calls this control valve the 'early style only'. And I see you can buy the entire valve at some Merc parts sources for...

    Prop Turn Backward?

Like the manual says, apply pressure CCW to hold in forward gear. It shouldn't move when in forward gear. Of course, this section is about lining everything up in forward gear before dropping the upper case onto the lower case. Think about it this way, when power is applied to the prop in...

4.3l lx help . runs slow

There are many distributor caps that are vented when a base gasket is used. The vent turns a 90degree angle to prevent a spark from being able to escape.

4.3l lx help . runs slow

An electronic timing light lets you dial in what setting for a given RPM you are aiming for. The Merc Manual tells you both the procedure with Thunderbolt IV and where to set it. So a pitch change also changes RPM. There are tools, one is one the Merc site, that help you understand how...

    '94 Evenrude 140 water flow

That went well. Pulled the hose off the block, the tell tale hose was clear. Tried to blow through hose into block - no go. Pulled the fitting off the block and it is plugged tight. Cleaned that out, now air put to the inlet line inside the exhaust house vents through that hole. Cap that hole...

    '94 Evenrude 140 water flow

Hi all, Working on a customer's E140TLERR (ser G 03523014), a '94 V4 140 HP. He moved into the area 4 years ago and the boat has been sitting stewing in its old gas ever since. Nice setup for cleaning the fuel tank out as it comes out of this hull in about a half hour. The whole deck comes up...

Mounting a 302 onto stringers. Help

I just used peanut butter with chopped strand in it to laminate 3/4 plywood. Shaped and set in PB. Then glassed in with 1708 and finished with CSM.

Mounting a 302 onto stringers. Help

Fiberglass them in. Just what I did to swap from a 4 cylinder to a V6.

    Starting procedure

Here's the wiring diagram with modification added to insert a relay to power the pump: The bottom diagram is how your boat is wired with the purple yellow going directly to the pump.

    4.3 Merc Timing cover Help

The balance shaft adds to the height. The non-balance shaft cover goes right around the cam gear. The balance shaft motor has an additional gear driven shaft. You can see it in the pic below.

    2017 glastron gt185 4.3 merc/alpha drive 1.62 14.5 19 prop - porpoise

I went outboard as far as I could. The boat will be more stable from rocking if the stance is wider. Also, because I fish with my wife who is half my weight, I can adjust the port tab to be less stiff and the boat rides level. You can also see I had to cut a notch out of the step to clear the mount.

Still have a dang leak.....or a new one

You might be able to get your phone down under the motor to video the Y pipe. That's how I found the leak on mine. I had to pull my just installed motor out because I pinched that o-ring gasket. Leaked pretty good. Get one of those phone tripod clamps and attach it to a stick.

This Doesn't Look Right, 4.3 MCM Alpha 1 Gen 1

The holes aren't too bad, especially since you won't be removing the fiberglass hull side of the transom. It becomes your template. There is also a template available for a few dollars that you can use to lay out the holes. Once I fitted my wood, I marked the wood through the fiberglass hoes and...
