    2986 Johnson 175 ignition issue

Try a small Phillips screwdriver in the female side of the plug at the relevant wire, and sandpaper the male side until shiny. Spray both with electrical cleaner. See if that solves the problem.

1975 Johnson 115/Remote Controller unit replacement with new

Wouldn't hurt to see if the neutral safety switch in the box is working. Look for a break in continuity when the button is extended (as in the pic -- yellow switch, white plunger). Easy to test. As suggested above, also try a direct jump from your truck to the starter to see if the starter is...

Temporarily disconnecting VRO - will it damage oil pump?

While you are testing with a portable tank, it wouldn't hurt to make sure the fuel in the permanent tanks is free of water or other contaminants. Pull some from the bottom(s) and let it settle out in a glass jar (any water will end up at the bottom). Can save a bunch of carb work.

    1957 Lark won’t idle

Top needle comes to a point. Initial setting is 1 1/2 turns c.clockwise from lightly closed. Bottom needle setting is about 3/4 open or a little less. These are air/fuel adjustments. At the right rear underside of the pan, there should be a plastic screw and spring. This is a throttle idle...

    Evinrude 15hp Fastwin AquaSonic

whoa. '54/'55 I think. Post a model number -- think F.R. might have something to say on that one. (and Welcome aboard!)

    Rochester quadrajet

Yes, spent a considerable amount of time adjusting the tension. It's close, I think -- but might tighten it up just a little more and see if that makes a difference (would do that before bending the hanger). I'll also look into differences in accelerator pumps.

    Looking for a part.

Good luck. Might not be quite that clear cut, but sounds like you have the parts to experiment.

    good info. Thanks.

    Rochester quadrajet

Thanks. Have a marine source who might be able to help. Possibly the wrong metering rods too. Seems close -- like adjusting an air/fuel needle on an outboard.

    Rochester quadrajet

New season, last years carb issue. I have a 5.0 Mercruiser inboard in a 1980 Trojan F26. The Rochester quadrajet idles down perfectly, no stalling -- no complaints. I have not been able to get the secondaries adjusted, however -- wants to blubber and struggle at about 3000 rpm or so. I was...

1986 225 Evinrude motor stopped and is stuck lol

Take off the lower unit and the hood/engine cover and pull off flywheel.

    1959 35hp RDS-21 Factory options

I've used an exterior electrical box (Lowes) when converting an 18 to electric starting. If your solenoid is under the hood, adding a start button at the motor should not be a problem.

    1974 Evinrude 25hp issue

Measure spark with an open air adjustable tester (not the inline type). If no or weak spark, reset the points according manual instructions.

1986 225 Evinrude motor stopped and is stuck lol

Yes, saw and heard all of that -- cannot say from hear exactly where the sound is coming from, so think perhaps under the hood.

$736 for 2007 Evinrude Etec Injectors, $250 for 2008 Evinrude Etec Injectors!

I used to have a couple of diesel Mercedes and a good mechanic to keep them running (have neither the cars or the mechanic now, and miss both). Anyway, his go-to maintenance was ATF added to a tank of diesel fuel (6 or 7 oz., as I recall). Have to admit the injectors were never a problem...

1986 225 Evinrude motor stopped and is stuck lol

Unless the motor fires, the starter gear can hang. Have you pulled the flywheel or had a peek underneath the cover. Maybe a broken bolt up there, or a loose/broken magnet. Look for signs of overheating when under there. The water pump in/at the lower unit may have failed, or the oiling...

    Looking for a part.

Find a shop near your Colorado home, preferably and old-time shop where you can get some good hands-on assistance. Ask around for shop recommendations.

What year outboard is this Super Seahorse 40hp?

That's a nice rig. Ready for a little power washing when Spring weather actually arrives. Check the transom for soft spots -- motor should not move fore and aft.
