    New member/low idle not working

There is a throttle idle speed adjustment at the rear if the steering bracket. Back the screw out a bit and use the twist grip to idle down. If idling smoothly, tighten the screw to hold the throttle in place. If idling is a problem, adjust the idle mix screw at the top of the carb. You may...

    Driveshaft into Gearcase 1990 4hp Evinrude E4RESR

Just a hunch, but might invert the gearcase to insert shaft. (hunch, meaning I think I've done it that way, but don't specifically recall....)

    1996 Tohatsu/Evinrude 9.9 4 stroke oil change

Not sure, but drawing it up through the dipstick tube on your 4-stroke might be more efficient in emptying the crankcase.

1985 140 Johnson looper 20 degree temp difference between port and starboard

Trust you mean .030.... Need back pressure -- muffs don't tell you what you need to know.

Lower unit bearings, water intrusion question

Have you drained the l.u. to see what you have? A dribble or a gearcase full?

    Evinrude 70 pee question

Can't tell much on muffs. Try it in a trash can, with water well above the water pump. If the impeller hasn't been replaced within a couple of years, that should be task one.

1985 140 Johnson looper 20 degree temp difference between port and starboard

Unless you do a lot of slow speed travel (seems you don't), consider gapping the plugs at .030.

    Evinrude 85 hp question

Sounds like the primer isn't working, or your starting procedure needs review. Hold the key in while cranking to start. Bump it if the motor wants to stall during warm up.

    Little Boat - Good Vibes

Hand-laid glass is a plus, as is generous freeboard. Take a compression and spark tester with you, and check condition of the motor.

    25hp johnson video

I'll assume your motor is an '86 model (correct this, or post a model number). The knob and needle on top adjusts the low speed air/fuel mix. Pull the plastic knob off. By hand, turn the needle clockwise until it is lightly seated. Turn it counter clockwise 1 1/2 turns, and push the knob...

Post a picture and description so we know what you are talking about. Or post a parts diagram from iBoats with your description (would also give you a parts source).

    Where to start

Ha! thought I lost this pic. With both plugs out, you might look for 3/4" spark, then close the gap until you see a strong sharp spark. 5/8" is what you need: Don't get the closed style (inline).

    84 Johnson 9.9

electric start models came with a charging system -- look for a triangular device on the right rear of the powerhead (rectifier). You won't see charging below about 2000 rpm, and is only four or five amps max. Test your motor in a barrel, with water about half way up the leg. After running...

Charging kit for 1990 8hp Evinrude?

Guessing 5 amp -- check a parts list. But in any case, a two-battery system might be better if running down riggers, fish finder.

    Just acquired a 1957 evinrude 18hp

That's an electric start model (relatively rare). See if the stater gear is hung up on the flywheel. See if you can rotate the flywheel slightly by hand. Note that the shift handle has been rotated out of the way, which is a nice feature for removing the hood. But rotate it until it clicks...

1978 Johnson back fires out exhaust

likely either a timing issue, or air/fuel mix (carburation). Fix depends on model as suggested above.

1980 70hp Evinrude clatters and hard to get into Forward gear

Your motor has a single forward and reverse gear. The single lever first shifts into gear, then advances throttle further. Shift crisply within an idle range.
