    Those have nails holding them in. If you look to the right of the hinge pin in the picture you'll see it. The nail is bent on the end facing the bow. Be careful with them. They are no longer available. Once you have the nails removed you can use a slide hammer to remove the hinge pins.

    A common drain on batteries are the panel/gauge lights. If you have a separate switch for them it's easy to switch them on and not notice it in the daytime.

    I set my idle speed and timing in gear in the water. If I was to do it in neutral I would try 9-10 maybe?

    Those plugs at that gap will be fine. If you haven't installed them you could gap them to .035"

    If that's a mercury control it might be possible to get a key from a mercury dealer. The older controls only had about 10 different keys. If you can take the boat to a dealer they might be able to match it up.

    Clunking can also be caused by a lack of brake fluid.

    Could you cut the mounting flanges off both pipes and use the new flange on the old pipe?

    Unless the seal is damaged no need to change it. It only stops excess grease from flinging around. Some people don't even use the seal if they use the non greaseable bearings.

    If you're reffering to the SAE J1171, that's not a part number. It's an SAE standard for Marine electrics.
