Google "joggle stick method" if you need to template some of your deck boards. I used it to do a casting deck and the process came out pretty close to perfect. Might not need it for some of the more subtle curves, but it works well when you're dealing with the bow and such.

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

The on/off switch is all you need. Wire the float switch direct to the battery as indicated and spliced in with your on/off for manual operation. The float switch is your auto. Even with the toggle in the off position, the float switch will complete the circuit and activate the pump if needed.

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

Thanks! I purchased the toggle switch labels. They didn't turn out as great as I had expected, but still look good and serve their purpose.

    New Journey

Well, I can't say it's been fast, but definitely moving forward. Spring here in MN has been a bit of a wet and windy mess scattered with a few nice days here and there. Spring turkey season was a bit unusual with the weather patterns, but managed to lay one down on day 3 when the sun finally...

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

Here you go. The dash is 3/4" and I haven't ran my steering cable yet as I want to get all my wiring done without the interference, but you can see there is still a good allowance of space. With the switch panel, the bezel wouldn't have allowed me much more room to bring it in tighter, and with...

    1976 Starcraft Chieftain 18' OB - restomod

Absolutely no need for apologies BWR1953. There comes a point where we spend more time wrenching on these boats than we do enjoying them. It's all about priorities and living life in the manner of your choosing. Congrats to you for being able to recognize what is important to you at this point...

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

That rotary housing mechanism still leaves a little clearance on the back side of the dash. I have my switch panel sucked up pretty tight next to the bezel (which you'll also need to mindful of on the front side). It's a tight fit with the wiring, but doable. I wouldn't comprise you're...

Supersport dash and interior side panel ideas?

I did a pretty basic dash layout and off the shelf switch panel for my SS. Used sight and sound as my trim gauge and gps speed from the fish finder. I also just ran my side panels straight and added some speakers.

    1984 starcraft islander

For a transom? I've seen it done by others, but considering the number of years the factory unsealed wood lasted, a properly sealed wood replacement will likely outlive the useable life of the boat at a much more attractive price point.

For peace of mind, I'd source my own wood for the transom replacement unless you could confidently identify it as good marine ply. The last thing you want is a piece of treated ply inside your aluminum boat, especially in areas like your transom.

Needs help with template for rotten transom

Doesn't look like a BIA bolt pattern to me:) I think he's asking for a template for the actual transom itself, not the bolt pattern for the outboard mounting.

Needs help with template for rotten transom

With the old transom out, you should be able to use a large piece of cardboard or some 1/4" ply to mock up a template. Lay it up against the outside of the transom and line it up with the rivets for the transom pocket. Trace out the side angles of the hull and take a little off to accommodate...

1973 Starcraft SuperSport 16ft. restoration questions

What are you covering the deck with? I had the bumps as well, but laid the Nautolex down right over it. Might want to just test an area with whatever deck covering you plan to use and see if its even noticeable under foot.

    New Journey

Not much fun watching spar dry and running electrical, but getting things checked off... coat, dry, flip, repeat...I guess the 4hr dry times are better than the 24hr.

    1976 Starcraft Chieftain 18' OB - restomod

Makes me kind of wish I would have held onto the Mercury 70 that came with my MR180. Sold it right off the bat as I wanted something with the BIA bolt pattern and internal trim, but still would have been fun to tinker with. Completely understand the life delays. I use to get stressed when I...

    New Journey

Update time: Was trucking along and then lost a little steam after the weather turned again. Got a few deliveries in, with another one arriving tomorrow containing the remaining terminal blocks and bus bars I need for the wiring. I know you all like pictures, and nothing too exciting to share...

    1982 starcraft v220 mariner v5 potential rebuild

Might be a 1983 as well. I couldn't find a 220V in the '82 catalog, but they had one in the '83: https://starcraftmarine.com/sites/default/files/catalogs/StarCraftAluminumRunabouts1983_web.pdf

    1982 starcraft v220 mariner v5 potential rebuild

She's a big girl! I'm envious! Galvanized dual axle trailer too! My assumption is after removing the deck you will find yourself with some saturated spray in foam. I'd yank it all out, give it a good cleaning, and assess all the rivets. You may find corrosion/pitting inside the hull where the...
