Mercruiser 350 MAG MPI missing only at 3000 rpms

If four stroke, looks about right, but if from a two stroke it looks slightly lean. Opps, never mind, just realized this was under the Mercruiser section...

Need help with ID of what's left of an 18' alum boat.

My guess would be Lone Star as well....but just a guess as they were noted for short front decks.

My boat needs to run real good on the 4th of July. FIX IT !!

Here on make erie, there is enough room that we are not packed that tight, however....the long lines waiting at the launch ramps is another story !! Those that do not know how to backup, nor actually how to load their boats all stand out like a sore thumb ! Many that keep their boats moored are...

    1957 Johnson Seahorse 35hp value?

Today, no one wants a fixer upper, it needs to run and run well in order to get top dollar. Finding service depends on where you live. Here in the walleye capital, find folks to work on older two strokes is easy and plentifull, not cheap, but plenty of these motor still around. What has been...

    1957 Johnson Seahorse 35hp value?

When it comes to older used motors, smaller up often brings bigger $$. Small engines are used as kicker ( spare/trolling) use or on small boats staying close to shore.

Good enough RPM or not (92' Yamaha 130 v4 2 stroke)

Sounds like you might be a little heavy on the pitch but not that much, however, you have to decide if it is worth the effort and cost.. In my 60 plus years of boating, I have always propped my engines to reach max wot with the lightest load....just me and necessary eguipment. If you have...

Why change out the axle ? I suppose there are extreme cases, but in my experience, adjusting the rollers/ bunks and adding guides was all that has been necessary.

Looking for my first boat and dwelling too much on the I/O vs Outboard question...

I owned a 22' Islanders for over 10 years and the family loved it ! Porta potty space and a dry place to store stuff. Mine had the 140 hp 3.0 engine that pushed it to 34 mph ( gps). Fuel economy was great, my 25 gallon tank would last for over 100 miles. Yes maintenance is higher but if you...

    Recommended wood for trailer bunks?

I always used 2x4's from the number yard. Never carpeted the bottom, left that area open for water to escape. Used galvanized roofing nails to hold carpet on and plated fasteners ( had access to a metal plating service)...they usually lasted about 6-7 years, then had to replace them.

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

Even if yours is rated for 9.......remember they figure 150# per person, so how many are over that 150# ?? A few 200# folks and you need to subtract one....etc ! Weight distribution is always a problem when the boat is at full capacity.

    Water in the Lower Unit

Is there a possibility of internal sweating from all this heat and humidity ? Have saw that happen in the past. Doesn't appear to be that much is my reason for saying this. I would replace this oil and run it for a while then check it again. After a few changes, is there still signs of water...

    Boat Recommendations

Yep, even if rated for 8 people, having a place to put them to keep the boat balanced is a bigger issue. Remember 8 people bring lots of extras along for the ride, where is that stuff gonna go ? I had a 22' boat and I would not try to bring 8 on board !!

No need to buy a " drive on" trailer, most any trailer can be turned into a drive on trailer with a few addons and adjustments.

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

My 22' Islander shows a max load of 7 adults @ 150# each....perhaps a little overloaded ? Getting that much weight properly distributed is difficult at best. If your going to be hauling that much weight, trim tabs are your only option.

The silicone will fail, in my 60 yrs of boating, I have never saw a successful silicone use. Then when it fails, it is very difficult to get anything else to stick in that area. No silicone anywhere near my boat...

    tahoe 1950 trailer guide pole

Poles are good, but many years back, I had a trailer with side guides that were the same as a carpeted bunk added to the poles. They were perfect and makes centering a " can't miss" situation. I launch and load by myself, with self centering rollers and side guides, my boat never fails to...

    1972 mercruiser water issue

What about the water pump on the engine ? Clogged hoses ? Yes you should be running a thermostat in the engine. Is there a scale buildup inside the engine block...or mabey a blown head gasket ? What are compression numbers ?
