Bennett SLT-10 Self-Leveling Trim Tabs - Vertical Mounting

My boat has a similar transom (see picture below; not my boat, but the same model) and I was able to install Nauticus SmartTabs on it. I contacted Nauticus customer support and they said the tab's pistons could be mounted to the bump-out portion of the transom, but we might have to adjust the...

    Do I need a trailer?

How'd we get from answering the OP's question about whether he needs a trailer to discussing whether it's a good idea to smear grease all over your trailer?

    Sunpad repair questions

That’s an interesting question… I need to go out to the boat and see if there’s room to drill new holes in the fiberglass and move the hinge.

    Sunpad repair questions

The wood is actually quite sound; the black ring doesn’t seem to be rot, even though it looks bad in the picture. The wood isn’t soft or punky, and the plies beneath that surface layer are clean and sound. The wood looks pretty much the same as it did several years ago, when we had the marine...

    Sunpad repair questions

The screws that hold the hinge to my sunpad/engine bay cover have chewed up the wood that forms the substrate of the sunpad. (See picture below.) As a result, I can no longer tighten the screws. I peeled back the upholstery and to my surprise, the wood is actually in pretty good shape, outside...

    Do I need a trailer?

How often and how far will you be traveling with the boat in the truck? It probably could be done, but it sounds like it could be a pain to launch and retrieve. If you take the motor off the back, I would think the boat would ride better and be less likely to take a bend from hanging over the...

    Leak into bilge, bellows?

The amount of difficulty you're having getting the drive on and off (especially without the O-rings) would seem to be a sign that something is still not right. Sometimes drives don't want to go on, but having to cinch it down with the nuts is not right.

    Leak into bilge, bellows?

I have not had this problem from using the zerks to grease the coupler or the driveshaft. I have had a dickens of a time getting the driveshaft to seat in the coupler when I got overzealous greasing the driveshaft O-rings. I am very stingy now with that grease and it makes inserting the...

Rubberized or Epoxy undercarriage roll on for salt water trailer?

I would not use a rubberized coating on a boat trailer for the same reason I wouldn't use Ziebart (or similar) rubberized "rustproofing" on the undercarriage of my vehicles. Once the coating is compromised - and it will get compromised - water/salt/etc. can get under the coating, but it cannot...

    Going straight at low speed?

The only time the wander should be a concern is when you're in a tight channel or a narrow river. Otherwise, just let it wander and only make corrections if you really start heading off course.

    Going straight at low speed?

That wander is typical for V-hull boats at low speed. Not much can be done about it.

How Do You Utilize Sliding Rear Window on Your Pickup

Rear slider is the best way to cool the interior quickly on a hot day. Open windows, open slider, and before you know it, the superheated air in the truck is gone. I particularly like that it avoids the ear-pounding turbulence that you often get when driving with just the forward windows open.

    Anyone Following the 4 Nations?

I've been pretty happy with the quality of the hockey. For guys who haven't played together that much, all the teams look pretty good. And the USA v. Canada game was wild... 3 fights in 9 seconds. Don't see that very often.

    Turbo tax

I used it for years, but the last several filing cycles it created errors on some pretty basic functions (credit for college tuition paid for our kids and other things) leading to two years of audits and a small fine. Generally, I think TurboTax has become less user-friendly in the last decade...

Winter mice are too much this cold winter in New Jersey.

We've caught many mice using the 5-gallon bucket technique. We put a bit of peanut butter in the bottom of the bucket and use a 2x4 as a ramp from the floor to the lip of the bucket. My daughter can't stand the idea of killing them, so we take them far away and release them in the woods.

    !/2 ton Truck towing limitations

Straight electric brakes would also be an option, and your wallet would take less of a hit. They're probably not a good idea if you boat it salt water, though.

    !/2 ton Truck towing limitations

Tough problem, but as an F150 owner since 2005, I can tell you that 5000 lb. (without WDH) limit is pretty much standard. To me, it's always sounded like a WDH would be a hassle for a boat trailer since you regularly load/unload most of the weight from the trailer, which means (I guess) you have...

Can not stop wanting a Butterball Turkey.

Actually, that is not correct, unless you're holding it below 135F for extended periods of time, in which case you won't kill the bad microbes. As you can see below, cooking at 137F for 68 minutes will kill harmful bacteria. Holding at 140, the time to kill bacteria is only 27.5 minutes. You...
