    Home plumbing lesson learned.

I hear ya, far to often we take things for granted and forget simple safety steps. When I was a young lad, we had a small cottage on the river. When we got electricity there we ran wires high up in case of flooding and when we connected to water, we put in a shutoff for when we would be away...

Out to lunch Gear Oil Prices

I always buy the appropriate product for the job at hand, the cost means very little when compared to the replacement cost or cost of having to do it over !! Learned that lesson early on in my 73 years !!

Out to lunch Gear Oil Prices

Look in the back of the container in the small print, they say meets or exceeds all requirements of marine industry for Mercury, Omc etc or something of that nature. Valvoline, Pennzoil, Supertech, Quicksilver all say that on the containers at my local Walleyworld...

Out to lunch Gear Oil Prices

Numerous gear oils with the marine specs on the market without paying for brand name, just check the specs on the container. In my area (Ohio) the walmart products are made by Valvoline, have used the "supertech" full synthetic gear lube 75w140 for years, many years, price is far less than...

    Eska won’t start.

When you say strong spark, what kind of gap will it jump ? When you say good compression, what are the numbers ? Is it firing when the piston reaches tdc ? Put the proper key back in the flywheel, trying to move it won't help at all. Actual testing numbers are needed, not it feels or looks good.

    Merc 6 Four Stroke Tiller

If you have let it set for long periods of time with no stabilizer then you probably have fuel issues. If it has been properly maintained then mabey where you buy your fuel !! E10 itself is not a problem, but like anything there are necessary maintenence things that need to be done. Are you...

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

On my Islander ( sold it two years ago) I added bases in the floor for three seats across just forward of the dog house. No one liked sitting in the very back anyway. The two outer seats could be swiveled to face the rear for trolling or watching kids on a tube. Those two back corners were the...

    Johnson 1987 pistons

Why not sell it for parts and buy a better/newer motor ? If your gonba rebuild it, do it all and do it right or don't waste your time and effort. My two cents anyway !!

    Rethreading tie down strap buckle.

The loop and hook won't go thru the buckle, you need a strap with nothing on one end to thread it thru. Sure there isn't another strap ??

1976 Montego 16- The "Free" Puppy

Very cool looking boat !! Looking at your list, I didn't see any testing on wood inside the fiberglass. Transom and stringer wood is critical that it is not rotted !! Being stored inside is a major plus, especially if its whole life was indoors. Next would be the rubber bellows on the...

    Fuel line upgrade

Think I found a company that uses the A1 hose and custom makes fuel lines with the fittings type you need. Called Larand custom fuel lines. Based on there listing a complete hose assembly with good fittings and top quality hose was less than 70 bucks. Didn't think that was a bad price...
