    Laying the Deck Questions

Miscalculating the amount of foam seems about par for the course! Sounds like you did well given the challenges with temps, etc. Nice work!

A few questions from a learner

I found that replacing my aluminum, 3 blade prop with a stainless steel 4 blade prop gave me much better holeshot at the expense of a few MPH of WOT speed. You'd need to adjust some prop parameters (esp. pitch) to account for using a 4 bladed prop, but a good prop shop (or the fellas in the...

    Laying the Deck Questions

I used a heat gun in the holes, lights underneath to heat the hull, and I tented the cockpit with a tarp and put in a space heater. I was able to foam that way in cold Midwest winter.

    17ft Bayliner Capri bowrider project

You do have the paperwork needed to properly register the boat, I hope? Otherwise, I wouldn't spend another minute of time on it. Don't mean to insult you or anything, but we see lots of folks who get a free/cheap hull but have no ownership paperwork and cannot register/license the boat.

    Freezer door not freezing

I think it would need at least 6-8 hours to get cold.

    Windows 11 yes/no?

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you don't like Windows very much.

    Time for a ‘new’ boat?

In Illinois, single axle trailers increased from $18 to $118 in 2018 and some people had conniptions. I don’t relish paying more, but $118 doesn’t seem unreasonable and the extra money is for repairing our roads. They definitely need some work. I feel for people with multiple trailers, though.

Charging batteries in boat with ACR

This winter, for the first time, I left my batteries in the boat. They are connected via an Add-A-Battery kit (with and ACR and an Off-On-Combine switch). Do I need to disconnect the batteries to charge them individually, or is it good enough to just have the switch in the Off position? Thanks!

    Windows 11 yes/no?

After using Win 11 for a month or so, I'd suggest anyone considering the upgrade should wait until a few major refinements are made. It's pretty buggy and, on my relatively new Dell computer, much slower to boot and wake up. Microsoft has of course loaded it with a ton of useless software and...

    1987 Larson DC-215 restoration

I'm sure a minor thing like working toward a PhD won't get in the way of boat restoration! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 What are you studying?

Need help deciding!! Wakeboard boat vs bow rider!?!

Honestly, if I were in your shoes, I'd be much more concerned with the size of the boat than with bowrider vs. ski boat vs. wakeboat. Unless your kids become highly proficient or only want to do wakesurfing, any of those boats will be a ton of fun for them. The real key is making sure you have...

Ski Brendella is it worth it?

Generally, there is not a lot of money flipping old boats, especially 25 year old boats. If you like the boat and want to fix it up for yourself, spending money on it might be worth it. I would not put money into it expecting to recover it on resale.

    trailer dolly?

Unless you want to spend a ton of money, there aren’t many options. We have a tight fit into our garage from a gravel driveway, and the only solution I found was practicing backing in the trailer. Took a while, but now I can zoom it in there in no time (and I’m not the best at backing a...

What is the year, make, and model of this boat?!

It may be very difficult to register the boat or trailer without the paperwork that shows you are the legal owner. Personally, I would not spend any money or any time on the boat until you can get that worked out.

    Windows 11 yes/no?

It was free for me, and I thought I read it woud be free if Windows 10 was legitimately/legally installed on your computer. I certainly would not purchase it if I could avoid it.
