    Help with materials (recommendations needed)

If you plan to use polyester resin (I'm assuming polyester, since you stipulated 435 resin), you should have at least 3-6 months before you need to worry about it getting too old. (That assumes it hasn't been sitting on the supplier's shelf for 6 months already....)

    E15 Gas experience

I'm not worried about it. If your engine ran OK on E10 I cannot imagine E15 will be a problem. Honestly, I have not heard of any ethanol-related engine issues for a long time.

1988 searay Seville cuddy cabin. Is it a good boat?

If the bottom of the transom and a motor mount are rotted, it’s time to repair the boat. It may not be safe to operate and the likelihood of causing further damage is greater. Sorry, I know that sucks. I was there myself.

Upgrading trailer tires and rims - need advice

Hard to go wrong with Goodyear Endurance tires... if you can find 'em. No question in my mind what tires will replace my current set of Endurance trailer tires.

Upgrading trailer tires and rims - need advice

My experience when switching to radials was just as you describe. Noticeably smoother.

Marine Flywheel compared to an auto flywheel

Same here. Pulling that hose was the absolute worst part of winterizing. Even with the drain, it's not easy to reach the plug, but it's much better that prying the hose off the p.s. cooler every Fall. I also installed similar drain on the big U-shaped hose on the front of the engine going to...

Marine Flywheel compared to an auto flywheel

I believe I used fitting number 12 in the linked diagram. I installed it between the power steering cooler and the inlet from the sterndrive; it's right behind the p.s. cooler. https://www.mercruiserparts.com/bam/subassembly/31747/7585/210

Marine Flywheel compared to an auto flywheel

Even better, add a drain valve to that hose. Then you don't need to remove it at all. That hose was always my #1 pain in the neck when winterizing. I added a drain to the hose and it makes winterizing so much easier.

Hi everyone, I’m new to the forum and a new owner of a 1973 Aristocraft 19. It is a total project

What part of Illinois are you in? I'm in west central Illinois, and with a couple of propane heaters in the garage, I was able to work through the winter to get my boat done. There were a couple of weeks when it was just too cold, but if the grinding is done outdoors, working in an unheated...

    Crownline 2007 220ex

Buying a 2007 boat is going to be almost entirely about the boat's condition and how well it was maintained. If you have not yet read it, take a look at the link at the top of this forum on buying a boat. Oh, and welcome to iBoats! The best place to get help with boats and boating...

Alpha 1 Gen 2 lower end oil

Glad you got it figured out. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve had to do a job twice because I missed something like that. I guess that’s how we learn to do it right…

Looks like a fun little boat! Have you sourced a replacement windshield yet? Those can be hard to find and/or expensive…

Alpha 1 Gen 2 lower end oil

That's the quad ring seal and it's easy to dislodge it when reassembling the drive. I bet it's partially (or fully) blocking the oil passage.

New to boats need help with battery choice

Foam doesn't affect how your boat sits in the water; it affects how fast (or whether) your boat sinks in the event of capsizing.

    Fixing bad motor mounts

Looks like rotted wood in your motor mounts, which means there is a high likelihood that other parts of the boat's structure may be rotted, too. I'd be checking stringers and the transom core for rot by drilling 1/4" holes into each, low and near the hull, to see if you get dark/wet/mushy...
