Whoo Hoo! I have a hole in my boat...

hit it with a heat gun before proceeding , , make sure no water is leaching out of the area you are repairing , if it has been wet a long time chances are it will not get a solid bond . i would jusgt get some fiber fill and fill the outside jus to stop the leak , later in the off season you can...

One Stringer or Engine Block is slightly compromised Question

yea , i kind of figured it was a fur coat on a pig deal, some of the idiots on the THT forum swore it was the best thing since sliced bread (must have been sponsored :)), but i doubt anything that was a bandaid from a tube fix would work on where the OP has issues.

One Stringer or Engine Block is slightly compromised Question

there is i believe a stuff that people use on transoms , its a pourable solution that is like a space invader that strengthens the rotted section . may be worth some investigation . however if it has been used like this and you did not notice , the best option there is just run it as is , no...

check the tang (whatever its called the little spring pin that rides on the float) on the float valve , is not stuck , (cant remember off hand if Suzuki have a solid or spring loaded pin) but it works like a dampener and if you over prime it will cause the bowl to flood. there is also a vacuum...

many years ago when i rebuilt my first out boards ( long before the internet and without a service manuals) i would just plonk the impeller in where it went IE: push down whilst turning the shaft , never had one fail from my inexperience not knowing the correct direction. later i learned that...

1983 35hp siezed after sitting for 5 years.

there is an equation that my machinist mate used to use when reborning my jet ski motors which was high performance work on 2 smokes that was too complex for me to even contemplate or understand when it was explained. he would always ask for pistons and rings to come together as a set with the...

1983 35hp siezed after sitting for 5 years.

its not the pistons that's causing the dragging , use a """ bore gauge"" and micrometer ,not just calipers and check the cylinders , pay close attention to below the ports. the bores are cast steel and the engine block is alloy . my guess ,it has swelled in the water jackets over time , put...

new to me 97 ski sanger dlx 20 stringer movement near stern

yes , pull the prop and shaft to check the integrity of that shaft log as that is glassed into the floor on most boats where the shaft goes through the floor. its better to be safe with this than sorry if that stringer delamination has traveled over time. rotted wood makes it obvious the...

can you take some pics from further away ?. test that shaft log has not delaminated as well, also the stringer on the other side . there could possibly be more damage than is visible , in which case , there could be some work ahead of you before using the boat. testing the log is a bit of a...

think along the lines of >>> water does not get inside a 2 stroke for unknown reasons. my guess it has over heated at some point > broken ring , swelled piston skirt or ? out of round cylinder bore tell me it has been hot but not enough to seize/ explode. check the water pump for busted fins /...

back in the old days before the internet and anal people we used some pretty dodgy boats on the water without the whole things falling to bits under us . glue up that stringer that's loose with some 5200 and go boating. its more than likely come loose because the boat was thrashed in rough...

    Starter for V8-300-C-A

if the correct bolts were used then snapping off is a non issue, some vice grips and penetrant on the remaining studs will break them free. however if some hardware store bolts were used and a thread snaps in the hole , it is going to be an engine out job to get the remands out. i would avoid...
