    try to get some oil without water through the motor first , you never know , salvage parts like heads , crank rods ,etc are sought after by people doing budget builds.

    yea mate , very strange , i should have taken a vid as no one i have mentioned to has had any idea either what was the cause. suggestions have been: crack in cap. crack in rotor contact in the cap. water intrusion in the lead. . broken carbon lead . + many other could have beens :).

    whatever way you go motor has to come out and be dismantled or replaced , speculating is a waste of time and effort.

    pull the drive , shove a hose up its intake hole , , run the fresh oil or go to local work shop and get a few jugs of oil from oil changes :) usably free .. cycle that through it , pull the motor and assess from there.

    some online search should get you a manual , if not for that particular motor ? a same configuration of less or more hp will posibly work for you.. my post was in general, as i am not 100% familiar with the Merk motor you have ? is it a 2+2. many questions need to be answered before tinkering...

    go over the carbs again , ultrasonic cleaning is the best option. failing that , look for a corroded or bad wire connection or ground around the coil area
