    My new trucklet!

Right? The thing is, as Americans got fatter and bigger, they demanded larger vehicles so that they could fit inside. Hence, larger trucks, cars and SUVs. And regular cars are being replaced by SUVs, Crossovers and whatnot. Just to accommodate our bulk. And the trend is spreading worldwide...

    My new trucklet!

It's actually based on the Tucson, which is smaller than the Palisade. But the rear end is based on the Santa Fe, which is how it got the 5,000 pound tow rating. Unique is right. They just came out a couple of months ago and there are limited units available. Finding one is a major effort in...

    My new trucklet!

"Picked up" this 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz a couple days ago. Traded in my 2020 Kia Sportage, which had a max tow rating of only 1,600 pounds. This new "Sport Adventure Vehicle" (as marketed by Hyundai) is rated at 5,000 pounds towing, which suits my needs perfectly. It's All Wheel Drive (AWD)...

I just now checked online and a 2x4x8 is $3.48 at Home Depot. 🤷‍♂️ I watch business shows every weekday and lumber prices overall have been coming down. (y)

    1980 Holiday 181

Oh, sorry. I should have been more clear. I got the magnetic lights as a temporary solution in order to get a trailer with non-functioning lights home without having to do a bunch of troubleshooting, rewiring and whatnot while on the road somewhere. Learned that the hard way after dark one...

    1980 Holiday 181

Regarding trailer lights... I picked up a cheap set of magnetic trailer lights from Harbor Freight for instances like yours. I didn't rely only on the magnets to keep them secure. I also used zip ties to hold them down tight. They worked out great! (y)

1989 Starcraft Islander 221V repair and repower

This is how I did the foam for my Kingfisher. We cut each piece by hand with utility knives, glued the pieces together with construction adhesive and then taped them with aluminum tape. The HDPE plastic trash bags over the foam sections at the stern are gasoline proof, "just in case" there's...

Bolt hole repair in aluminum gunwales - any tips?

I had a similar situation on my Kingfisher, including a giant hole from a PO rod holder. The fix was simple, I fashioned a small aluminum plate that fit between the gunnel edges and covered the hole(s) and then riveted it in place. Looks factory. ;)
