    My 84 4winns horizon 195 project.

I wonder when they started using those capacity plates. My '88 definitely has one.

80th Anniversary of the Battle of The Bulge

If not us all of Western Europe would be either Russian or German. Most likely Russian at the cost of millions of lives. The Western Europeans are good at starting wars and lousy at ENDING them!

Please be safe and don't forget to use your venting blower when fueling.

Better yet install a gas vapor detector and inspect your entire fuel system each year! Always sniff before flipping on the blower! Your nose is more sensitive than a gas vapor detector

    V-P 5.7 Gxi intake on 383 stroker?

That divorced choke will only work on a Pre Vortec with the internal exhaust crossover in the intake manifold. Modern Holley and Edelbrock carbs come with electric chokes.

    V-P 5.7 Gxi intake on 383 stroker?

What you need to do as far as detonation is: carefully check and verify total timing advance to make sure it isn't too advanced for your engine.... verify that your fuel mixture is not too lean... make sure that the boat is not over-propped, better to prop it to the top end of the manufacturers...

    V-P 5.7 Gxi intake on 383 stroker?

The right size carb with the correct jetting will give you what you want and will be easy to maintain with widely available Holley or Edelbrock parts. If not used to starting a carbed engine with a choke that’s just a little learning curve. Best part of this way is you will be free of Volvo’s 2...

    Rain needed

We had a bit of a drought in the fall but it's been raining often now and we just got about an inch of snow which is unusual before Christmas here. The water level issue is what is great about salt water, it just never happens here. We have deep water everywhere every year. 8 foot tidal swings...

Bearing carrier removal 1989 cobra 3 litre.

All good to know. I don't know that I'd every try to take my salt water used Cobra apart, might be very difficult. I can split the drive but even removing the water pump adapter if it causes a leak would be challenging due to calcium deposits. I do have a spare freshwater unit that needs a...

MerCruiser 5.0 Carb Engine Compression Test, Two Piston came back with Zero

I think Muc's way is the most efficient to find out what needs doing. The fact that it's #s 5&6 suggests the manifold to elbow gasket, or leaky elbow and/or manifold, but it is worth doing more investigation to get a better diagnosis, and the leak down test will do that for sure.

How Do I Remove a Stuck Gimbal Bearing?

It would have to be quite high, like above the crankshaft pulley centerline. It actually makes more sense to me that the seal keeps water that gets into the bellows out of the bilge, so a failed bellows does not sink the boat....

    5.0 OSi-JF overheating at speed

These can crack if the raw water intake hose doesn’t drain fully. The OMC Cobra has the same design & that plastic nipple can crack the same way. There is a drain plug on the side of the pivot housing on the Cobras to drain that area but the plugs sometimes get seized in place. Don’t know if the...

80th Anniversary of the Battle of The Bulge

We who have relatives who served & have long since nice departed this earth have the responsibility to educate today’s youth as to the sacrifices made and what those sacrifices yielded in terms of freedom. Don’t depend on others to do it, we must educate & inform….

    Trailer bleeding brakes. Part 2

from what I see there the calipers look like they are mounted too low for them to bleed easily, is it possible to rotate the caliper mount to put the caliper at the top? If not you could disconnect the caliper slide bolts, slide it up to the top of the rotor, bleed it and then...

    Salt water leak

I actually had that raw water intake hose pop off the metal fitting on the transom mount, that is what led to my overheat years back. Now every spring I get down in the bilge and check EVERY SINGLE HOSE CLAMP. This is why I won't have another one of these I/Os. Outboards don't make raw water...

    Salt water leak

Yep that leak just isn't that bad your auto bilge pump should be more than good enough to keep up with that.

    Trailer bleeding brakes. Part 2

Sometimes the problem you can have with bleeding disc brakes is where the calipers are mounted on the mount in terms of location, if they are on the 9:00 or 3:00 position they may not be high enough for air bubbles to rise to the top. On drum brakes this is not a problem because the wheel...

Low Voltage to the Ignition Switch

As much as it pains your body you must get down in the bilge & up close & personal with the starter terminals battery cables & engine grounds. You’d be surprised at what you find. And the engine doesn’t have to be flooded, simply moisture in the air and temperature swings cause condensation...

Need some help just bought 96 chris craft

I think in that time frame they were owned by OMC just like Four Winns and a few other well-known companies. If you have the 5.8 Ford + Joint venture cone clutch drive, the good part is the drive/transom mount are really Volvo and still supported. The engine not as much, the EFI and electronic...
