    Stalling mystery

I had a 18gal. tank installed under the front seat, along with the 100 gal. built in, it had 10+ ft. of 1/4" hose and it ran twin 85hp. motors, your 5/16" hose is more than enough to supply fuel. The first thing I'd do is check/remove all the inline hose connectors, then check the tank vent and...

    1990 Force L-Drive 90hp -- Can't get it to idle -- losing my mind :D

Not everything is cut and dried and easy to understand and put into use. In some cases??? there can be 2-3 things set wrong and the idle won't come down unless they all get set right. Throttle linkage, air screws, air leaks, timing set wrong, butterfly's, etc. ???

1976 Chrysler 105 running rough immediately after adjusting carbs on the water.

First thing you do when trouble shooting an outboard is a compression test. Compression can change. Also check the fuel for water, then pull the fuel pump apart and check the diaphragm for holes or tears?? ONE!!!! backfire or cough or stutter can blow a hole in the diaphragm. If it's bad? get 2...

Force 85 won't shift into forward but goes in reverse help!

The air box under the carb is removed by 4- 5/16 screws. Then the 2 1/2" nuts are easily accessible, they are special nuts and don't come off easy. Not very often do you need to adjust this rod, but I think twice in 35 years I had to. Before you do this: try lubing the rod and maybe replace the...

    Float needle

This shows the floats not adjusted right or the needle/seat is bad/ or the wrong one?? The needle/seat: they come 2 ways, one has the solid needle and the seat has a little tiny o-ring, the other has a solid seat with a rubber tipped needle. Inspect what you have. The seat on some carbs is...

Look at "static timing" if you want to mess with the trigger?? but we need to know what ignition system you have?? But the trigger's probably not the problem. 1990 Force L-Drive 90hp -- Can't get it to idle -- losing my mind :D

The first thing is you shouldn't mess with the timing as it doesn't move like some cars do. You do the static timing? The factory reps ALWAYS set the timing using the static method. Unless you can run the boat at wide open and over 5000rpm's you just messed up the timing settings. The air...
