    Welcome I moved your question to your own thread In most cases the rule of thumb is you loose 200 rpm for each inch increase in pitch, could be a bit ore then 200. So 3 inch increase could lower WOT 600 to 800 rpm depending on which type of prop

    Adding for safety is a good thing, but if there is never a short, then it wasn't needed. Something like, if you have a fire extinguisher in your house and never need it then it might have been a waste of money :unsure:

    Sorry to say but getting a Merc reman doesn't mean you got a good motor. My Buddy put 2 of them in and both had issues, this why this time we rebuilt it. As Ted said do a leak down test to find out what the problem is

    Thanks for the SN, shows it's a 2 stroke Carb and Beligum I'm assuming easy start is Either, and using Either can damage the motor When it started the one time, did it run for a while and you shut it down? Or did it start real quick and then shut down? Is gas making it to the Carb?

    Yes 9 pin will be the same, neither use pin 9 and in most cases it's not there Double check the intakes. Pre-vortec has 12 bolts. Vortex has 8 bolts
