2003 Yamaha 2stroke suddenly has no reverse

yes the shifter has to push against the spring to get it out of forward to go into neutral and to get into reverse. there are detents to help hold neutral and reverse positions once in those positions going the other way the cam backs off and the spring pushes it back into forward On my...

2003 Yamaha 2stroke suddenly has no reverse

I am guessing you are talking about a 2003 50 hp Yamaha. My BIL had a problem with his 50 not long ago where it did not shift properly. said they found water in lower unit. not sure what all they changed but said it cost him $1200 to get it out of shop. water on bearings and gears is not...

2003 Yamaha 2stroke suddenly has no reverse

most of these motors are spring loaded into forward, you have to overcome the spring tension to get into neutral and reverse. I would drain some lube from the lower unit to make sure there is no water in there. and then take lower unit apart to see what happened if you are sure all adjustments...

    FUEL PRIMER BULB COLLAPSING!!

loosen the fill cap and then blow compressed air into the line to the tank to see if flows freely. but be care ful explosive fumes should be coming out of the fill cap area. thinking some more of on this, the Anti syphon valve would keep air from traveling back to the tank some shops have a fuel...

YAMAHA 2 STROKE 4 CYLINDAR NOT RUNNING ON ALL CYLINDARS AT IDLE

no one but you knows what motor you are talking about, and that makes it difficult some times. how did that plug look when you pulled it? did you look up into that plug hole with a good light or maybe borescope? heavy dose of ringfree or seafoam might clear up carbon if that is what the problem...

Yamaha 50 HP 4 stroke outboard overheating. Cant solve problem

I would have thought that was done when he had the motor apart last time. chemical flush is the only thing you have not tried. I read good reports on Ridlyme Marine descaler , but have not tried it myself I have to wonder if the top cylinders are not getting enough water into block to cool...

50hp Yamaha 2 stroke outboard fuel problem?

too much fuel to air along with too little fuel to air will not allow a cylinder to fire and burn the fuel. sounds like you have some plugged up jets and the motor is lean sneezing, but dumping fuel is what you need to chase right now

50hp Yamaha 2 stroke outboard fuel problem?

simple enough to take the pump off and see it has a problem. I still have no idea what 4hp means on near full throttle hp usually means Horsepower

50hp Yamaha 2 stroke outboard fuel problem?

a better explanation is needed on what you said in bold above. Also, Just for testing A piece of clear tubing tied in after the pump will show if air is being sucked into the pump somewhere.( look for air bubbles) I have cleaned the carbs on my BIL's 50 several times do to plugging of jets...

Yamaha 50 HP 4 stroke outboard overheating. Cant solve problem

or maybe too much is flowing out instead of going thru the motor. I have no idea on where that 4 stroke TT is tied in, but a lot of the old 2 strokes it just indicated that the pump was pumping, and the water coming out was not hot so it did not run thru the motor before exiting the TT And I...

Yamaha 90 slows down after about 15 mins.

when did you test the horn last? my C40 has 2 temp switches on it , one to tell the CDi when the motor is warmed up and one to tell when it overheated make sure they both work. but I would check to make sure the timing is not retarding when it should be advanced

Yamaha 50 HP 4 stroke outboard overheating. Cant solve problem

you mentioned the stat was not opening, or maybe it was blocked up with some debris. But you did not say you put a known good (tested)stat into the housing? Does this motor have a PRV that could stick open dumping water? are you sure the pipe from pump to power head is sealed to make sure all...

Yamaha 90 slows down after about 15 mins.

I would think so, but with an inductive timing light hooked to the individual plug wires you will be able to make sure they are getting steady spark, and see what the timing is doing as long as you mark the flywheel good enough to see where it should be lighting up at. all while the problem is...

Yamaha 90 slows down after about 15 mins.

testing things while the problem is there is the only way you will find it. spark on all 3 cylinders is needed. timing monitored also to make sure the timing is not dropping back when this happens. does pushing on the primer bulb do any to help?
