    I bought a Quicksilver transom kit last year and installed it. It came with a generic 5/8 heater hose like you mention and a molded 5/8 hose. I installed the molded hose. Maybe the generic hose is too short?

    Agree, it's likely a full gut amd restore, and that finding a shop that will take this on is going to be tough. If you do the work yourself I would budget 18-24 months and $5k - $7k, assuming you have a place you can work on the boat that is dry and that you can get above 60F in the cold months...

    Yes, you can do it however you want. I didn't cap my stringers in glass until after they were tabbed in. For my boat the OEM had left the stringers completely uncapped when they built it and it lasted a while, but eventually rotted.

    Yeah, for initial cleaning I'd just use a kitchen surface cleaner and some rags or paper towels. Maybe some dish soap and water on the greasy spots.

    Thanks! I cut the post down on my seats so they can sit as low as possible, as the platforms were about 3/4" thick. I used #14 stainless steel sheet metal screws (McMaster-Carr part number 90184A536) sized to the correct length so they would only go into the platform, and not into the deck...
