    New Stuff on Vehicles likes/dislikes

Its weird though. Like I've driven an 8 speed with the shudder and this feels completely different. Its more like the pwm for lockup is pulsing. Doesn't do it under very heavy load or very light throttle. Just that one particular spot and even then not all the time nor in every gear. Its...

    New Stuff on Vehicles likes/dislikes

So driving the ford I came up with a few more likes/dislikes. Likes: Acoustic glass Dislikes Electric brake boosters Digital gauge clusters (if you're going to give me a screen for a dashboard, at least make the gauges have more than a max and minimum for tick marks) The torque converter...

    Moving my batteries forward

I seem to recall sealed battery boxes that had their own vent line you ran. That'd probably work fine.

    Best flooring options?

I like the EVA. I will admit that most of the quotes I got they told me to expect 10 years at best out of it. The good stuff installed isn't cheap. The nautolex/marideck products last about forever. They do get warm if you like being barefoot is about the only drawback I can think of.

Who makes covers that are any good?

The cockpit cover on my 4 winns is 22 years old now. Sunbrella. Water proofed it 2 or 3 times over the years. Still beads and runs right off. Did shrink a bit though. For winter I use an old pool cover cut to size (thick tarp) stays dry, snow rolls right off. The 330 we had a custom storage...

They all suck. The ZF in the rams is going to be the least sucky of them imo. But they all have the same issues honestly.

Again, derivative from that program. Not direct joint venture but an off shoot of the program. All developed and loosely based around the ZF 8HP, just worse. All sharing the exact same issues. And the real HD trucks still use the 6 speed Allison (medium duty)

Which is why I called it the ford version. You wouldn't even think they were the same transmission driving both. The 10 speed Allison is just a sticker and hard parts swapped version of it too.

Boat is put away for winter. What to do every day ?

The 33 has been in as late as Christmas. The 4 winns gets laid up if it gets cold beginning of November. In the winter I spend money on projects for it lol.

Read the thread. There are a few things glossed over in the video that are properly addressed in the thread.

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Thinking about it... most model designations don't make sense. Like how the le is the low end in toyotas line up but then the XLE hybrid is near the top for starting but somehow you can get more in the SE... I think its intentional.

    215 sundowner transom

Yes, Jay's is the one I read through dozens of times before I even thought of doing this. I should've linked that as well. @todhunter was immensely helpful for my project as well as his thread. The only reason I linked mine is that its the same boat more or less. Dad did a few liberators back...

    215 sundowner transom

The only original wood left were the sides of the cabin walls. I went very overboard and completely rerigged as well. Included in my price list is tools, extra equipment, cables, electrical, upholstery the engine rebuild, transom bellows and reseal, all bushings steering etc. I came up with...

    215 sundowner transom

I measured the deck bulkhead to the cabin, side box width, where the cutout for the engine was, where the seats were, any visible bulkheads all to one point of reference. Hatch locations etc. I measured transom forward. What you'll find is nothing is anywhere near perfect. From there I cut the...

    215 sundowner transom

Take a lot of measurements, make a drawing, take photos. The engine mounts its easier to just hang the motor on the transom, slide the alignment bar in and mark about where the mounts end up. I made a jig based on another user on here but there are a few assumptions that go into that... 1 your...

    New Stuff on Vehicles likes/dislikes

I cross shopped everything when I got the Colorado I don't recall at this point what I dis liked about the ranger but out of all the midsized trucks I disliked the Colorado the least. I currently still dislike it the least. You describe what the 10 speed in the F150 has been doing since...

Alpha I Gen I Hinge Pin 'bushings' ?

If you grind a wrench paper thin you can drop the steering pin without removing the engine. That being said, depending on access, you're better off pulling the engine.

Alpha I Gen I Hinge Pin 'bushings' ?

I think some of the high performance models have a bushing in that spot.

Alpha I Gen I Hinge Pin 'bushings' ?

Also, is it the pin moving in the bore or the whole ring moving on the steering pins. There is a free play for that too. If its the ring its repair or replace. I think JR marine still repairs them.

Alpha I Gen I Hinge Pin 'bushings' ?

So you're talking the area under the limit switch cap has slop? Or that the bell housing moves side to side?
