This piece on top of the old engine comparment floor is annoying me. Has edges that would interfere with water getting to the bilge. Anyone ever dug one up to get to the boat floor? Probably just a can of worms I don't need to get into.

Pretty much done prep sanding and grinding. Got to sand the gelcoat off the gunnels in front of the transom on each side for glassing the corner strips, and that will be it. Plan is to start on transom tomorrow. Get it glued together, then installed first. Then attach stringers to it allowing...

Yes I'm pretty happy about how it went and what I got done. Finish the one corner, then make sure floor and transom edges are smooth and ready for glassing, clean off top of stringers, and can probably get after putting it back together.

I used one of those 80 grit sanding discs on my grinder. It went well 95% done just one little bit left in a top corner. Finish it off in the morning, do a clean up, and check for any other grinding or cutting and get that done tomorrow also. Getting some 2” by 6”cedar for floor joists at...

Got some time in today and pretty much down to skin other than the thin stuff left. Thanks for the tip to get rid of it. I will get the rest of transom cleaned up tomorrow.

Yes I find if you try to remove it a sheet at a time it goes better than trying to pry parts of two sheets at a time off. Will put some more time in today. I'm dealing with I/O hole patch job also. Hope removing plywood doesn't affect outer skin over the old hole.

A little tardy on the pics. One pic shows the front end where I need to clean off the glued wood stuck to the top of the fiberglass stringers, tidy up my cleanup for peanut butter down the sides, and for cloth overlap of the floor. Will have to put a couple cross members in the middle where the...

Got old engine mounts cut out yesterday, and started on removing transom wood which is proving to be tough stuff. Where there is no rot it is well glued and taking a lot of work to bust it loose.

Got my floor pieces patched over a few air bubbles, didn’t get the edges done but can do them closer to installing the floor. Did get the boat mostly sanded where I will be joining the new floor with the gunnels. So in pretty good shape for tomorrows move inside to my garage. Still need to...

Will do the chopped glass. Wetted and laid on 2 sheets of glass on deck side of my four sheets of plywood, so that’s done . Tomorrow cut off overlaps on the edges and wet the edges out good. Patch a couple of air pockets and good to go. Then in the boat to grind off the 10”s or so on the sides...

Thanks for responding, so fill center gap/joint length of boat with peanut butter, then a 4' strip of cloth the length over top on top of joint and a 8' strip over top of that should do it?.

Got my four main deck sheets bottom side fiberglassed today with unwaxed resin and a sheet of 1708. They will go two on each side 16’ long. connecting in the center on top of the main stringer the length of the boat. Tomorrow I’d like to do two layers of 1708 on the topside of the four sheets...

Got the pod off today working outside. Took some serious pounding to remove it. But now boat will fit in my garage to redo the transom and floor and then put it back together. Sick truck in the garage I got to get going so I can move the boat in there and have some heat.. 7.3 Diesels "argh"...

Got the transom fiberglass off today. Some rot as seen in the pics mostly at the bottom, might be some rot higher on the starboard side. Any ideas about staggering partial replacement wood pieces assuming there is good wood to work with, or just replace it all. Looks like wood 1/3 to 1/2 way up...

I have decided on 3/4' exterior plywood and polyester resin to do my floor. Will treat both side's of floor with resin and mat before installing, but what is best material to fill any voids in the plywood both sides before glassing? And glue to use to attach the floor to the stringers? With screws.
