    Not when it stops arriving, when it evaporates completely and the rubber is again dry on the housing. But who knows how long that is.

    Well, the newer shafts don't have a groove for the o ring, and I had it get caught in that seal as well before. Guess that the o ring is to help seal that shaft cavity from water since the seal is oriented "wrong"

    That sucks. Did you check the pressure at speed and when it died? My Edelbrock had flooding problems at 7.5 psi (and ran fine at 2-2.5 psi). Mechanical or electric pump?

    So you can see that damaged o ring on the gear shaft, looks like it got caught in that lower seal (which is why Merc deleted it). That seal keeps water from the upper drive shaft. Good chance that the shaft is rusted/damaged. If so, you'll need to install a speedi sleeve on it if it's grooved...

    Good news is that the seals in the upper are much easier to replace than the prop shaft. With a gen 1 you can pressure test the halves separately and see where you're leaking. I wouldn't mess with the input shaft seal, but I'm sure others would. It's not a bad job if you have an earlier style...

    That snapped bolt should just pull out, or drive it out from the outside. No threads in the housings. At that point nothing but 40 years holding it on.

    Because you're continuously removing your stupid drive for one reason or another, and you get super pissed if you have the drive ready to go but no gasket. Or so I've been told.

    I'm looking for a cylindrical wire go/no-go type feeler gauge. To measure tiny holes. Would normally use drill bits for this type of thing, I need metric, range of about 1-3 mm in 0.1-0.2mm increments. Not sure how to even search for it, but I'm assuming it exists. "pin gauge" is the closest...

    What do you mean by "bottoms out"? Binding is an entirely different thing, if that's what's happening.

    You can bypass the switch by supplying 12v to the I terminal of the ignition switch. It is the switch is accessible you can jump the wires on either side together

    The accelerator pump is activated by the throttle cable, not the shift cable. Please elaborate on what you're calling "run" position. That is different than "start" position.
