    replace or rebuild merc carbs

That's basically paying $300 for a carb rebuild. Which is fine, but if you're going to pay someone you'd probably be better off having someone local do it.

    Water in Bellows

I've had it happen, but my boat was pretty much submerged (and I think my shift cable is experiencing delayed effects 😔)

    Chattering in out drive

Great info, please post the details. Also, common wisdom is that your drive is going to grenade since you didn't rebuild the lower. Keep us updated...

Engine Alignment tool goes in about 1/4 of the way, question.

Nobody knew that because it's wrong. The tool absolutely has to go into the coupler. Full stop. That's literally the whole point.

Where are the rear motor mounts on a mercruiser 120?

Could also check vacuum if you're thinking cam lobe. Exhaust flappers can sound like that. Or exhaust leak.

    1984 Mercruiser 470 Ignition Switch

Interesting. That orange wire is spliced with the red in the diagram, and then appears to dead end in the cannon plug. Doesn't look like it does anything.

Interesting new on the water fail

So while trying to adjust my shift cable on the water today, just idling around in a heavy current, engine stalls. Couldn't restart, not a hiccup. Jumped fuel pump, which ran but didn't sound "juicy". I'm solo, so couldn't check for fuel when throttle pumped. Checked fuel filter. Seemed less...

They should be snug against the outlet. They prevent the water from just dumping out the elbows (without going through the engine) at low rpms. Higher rpms/higher water pressure opens the balls and then lets more go out the elbows.

Since we'll be reading minds... It's a TKS with a bad blocking diode.

    Exhaust bellows ripped

I've been running one for years. I didn't notice any increase in noise (certainly not at idle), for sure no soot anywhere.

Mercruiser 170 - Spark at distributor, not plugs

No If he's getting a good spark at the coil wire like he says, the problem is rotor/cap/wires/plugs.
