Evinrude 60hp - 3 Blade vs 4 Blade Prop Pitch

If the 3 blade was a 17, the extra Blade, could account for a lot of the Drop.

Evinrude 60hp - 3 Blade vs 4 Blade Prop Pitch

Without knowing what prop was on there prior, it is a crapshoot was to whether this next purchase will be any better. However, a 17" is a pretty fair starting point. You want the Rpms at WOT to be in the upper end of the WOT Rpm range for that engine, which I am going to guess is 4500-5500. Why...

    1970 Johnson 40hp 40e 70a spark plug

I will assume your engine is a Mechanical Shift. The Idle Speed Stop and Adjustment is below the Lower Cowl on the Port side, just behind where the Throttle Cable connects. From what I can see of the Spark Plug Electrode, it looks pretty clean. I would say the guck is Unburnt Oil, which is not...

How to get my throttle roller closer to the armature/flywheel?

Too many owners think that the Idle Speed is adjusted at the Carb, like it is done on many other engines. Not on these engines, here the carb is fully closed at Idle, and actually remains closed or almost closed through most of the Throttle Range. Idle speed is controlled strictly by the Spark...

    1970 Johnson 40hp 40e 70a spark plug

Welcome to iboats That engine was originally speced for Champion J4J. Champion has changed their Numbering System, and I don't know what the latest Number is. Is the Black Substance on the Plug, kind of Light and Fluffy, Oily, Dry? It could be too much Oil, too much Fuel. High Revs in a Bucket...

1983 Merc 50hp is chugging after a minute of running.

If it runs a Little Rough, on the Muffs, it will run a whole lot rougher once it is in the water and there is some Back Pressure on the exhaust

you're sure that 8 isn't a 0? Either that, or it is a 1954 25hp, looking at the Pattern for the Numbers As for the Merc Controls on an Evinrude or Johnson? I don't know, Mercury back in the Day, anchored the Inner cable and used the Outer Casing to move the Linkage, opposite of what OMC did...

If you are testing for spark, hold the Wire, with a bolt in it, about 5/16" away from a paint free part of the Block However if you are rotating the engine for some reason, and don't want risk it Starting, then ground the wires to the Block That said, of there is no Belt between the Flywheel and...

I need help with a 58 super thunderbolt iekhaefer!

There is a belt between the Distributor and the Flywheel. Looking at the top pic, I don't see a belt The distributor should not be moving when the Shift Linkage is moved, except on the Dockbusters, but they are 6s. IT does however move when the Throttle Linkage is moved
