    Boat not planing

I would go with weight distribution first as setting the trim pin all the way in first, would bring the bow down, but with a loss of Efficiency from the upward Thrust, while a load rebalance might do the same but keep the prop thrust more Parallel to the direction of travel

I/O taking on water while sitting not moving

Your engine has 2 water pumps. The circulating pump, where a fan would be attached in a car/truck, and a Raw Water pump, that is either mounted on the Crankshaft, or driven by a belt, and located quite low

    Outboard top cylinder getting hot

If you add gorilla snot to the gasket, just do so sparingly so as not to block a Water Passage in the Gasket, like the Old Man did, resulting in the "Hot " Light coming on all the time that year

    1978 Evinrude 140 V4 Only firing on 2 cylinders

The old Crank rated 140 and 115 had the same porting, and keeping track after the switch to Prop rating is like looking at a bowl of spaghetti. The Bubbleback did change the Exhaust tuning, whether or not they ever bolted it to the 90hp block, I don't know, but it may have upped the power a bit...

I/O taking on water while sitting not moving

Leak between the Raw Water Pump and the Transom Plate. When Engine is running air will be sucked in, so no leak, but when Engine off, water is able to leak out

I would recommend the Grease that OMC speced, or its equivalent. Mercury Marine also markets some Excellent Greases for use in Marine Applications. Of course it is your engine, and you could use any grease you want, even Bacon Fat if you wanted to, but I say stick with the specified Lubes

    70's Johnson seahorse 35 issues?

Higher Octane Fuels actually burn Slower, Cooler, which is how it reduces Detonation, and actually have fewer BTUs in any given Volume. As for Detergents, Regular has enough to keep an engine Clean. SeaFoam(Naphtha and Light Oil) really does nothing, as I said, there are better Snake Oils for...

    70's Johnson seahorse 35 issues?

All those parts on the exterior of the Motor were engineered with getting wet in Mind Steep Launches and backing down them fast, is kind of Stupid. No, just make it Stupid. Motors are engineered to get wet, if some moronic reckless Launching Technique submarines it, all the grease in the...

I thought towing doubles was legal in some states? 😁

I guess he never looks in his mirrors, Rearview or Side. Probably didn't know the cops were behind him, until they used the Siren

    Upgrading from 70hp to 90hp

I will assume the 90 is a V4, as 330lbs is what the later V4 90 weighed. Is it a Crossflow or a Looper?

Alpha drive for a V8 whats the ratio?

2 or more Props with the same Dia and Pitch, can result in very different Performance. Blade shape, Blade area, Blade thickness, Rake and Cup are the reasons for the difference in performance. As for "aluminum is deflecting" go clamp a Visegrip on a Blade and see how much it flexes. That is just...

    Help with my outboard!

There are a couple of Check Valves in the Ball Assembly, if either goes bad, the Bulb will not function as a Pump. Sometimes they will fail closed, thus preventing the Fuel Pump from getting fuel.

    Outboard top cylinder getting hot

Too lean a mixture can cause heating/lack of lubrication, since your motor has a carb for each Cylinder, a Lean condition might not be noticed until Damage has been done. To name a few, but not all Improper Float setting. Restricted Fuel Supply to the carb involved. Restricted/plugged...

And some people still refuse to add a Chain, or Rope to fasten the Bow Eye to the Winch Stand, or use Straps to secure the Stern... I wonder if Henry and Harold Handcuff, ticketed the Guy for driving with Undue Care and Attention?
