    Help with my outboard!

You need to have the water several inches above the Pump housing, to insure it is Primed. Ona lot of Outboards the Pisser isn't discharging water that made it through the Block, just water that has made it to the Block. As the Exhaust and water do mix in the Exhaust tube, some exhaust may find...

    Upgrading from 70hp to 90hp

A 20 hp increase will get you about 4 mph more top end. I guess there is a Chance that for one Year they made the boat differently and thus the reduced HP Limit. Myself, I have never worried about a slight Overpower. I always made sure the Underwriters of the Insurance, knew it was exceeding...

    Boat not planing

I have never seen a boat refuse to plane because of a 25 liter Portable tank being added to the Bow area, in most cases it improved the ability to get on Plane. The added weight of the Kicker is about the weight of 2 full 25 liter tanks Are you trying to plane the boat with the Kicker up or down?

    2000 70hp Johnson semi start/ won’t stay running

After you remounted the carbs did you check/verify the Sync between the Carbs and Spark Timing? Also, how did you set the Idle speed? What Rpm is the Engine Idling at in gear, in the water? When you checked the spark, did you verify that it could jump a 3/8" gap on all cylinders?

97 Force 120- Low idle at times, stalls when engaging into gear

What Rpm is the engine running at Idle, when in Gear? Maybe all it needs is a slight adjustment of the idle speed stop, though that is a bit more complicated than just turning a screw as it usually also requires adjusting the Throttle Cable length, so check out the things racer said above

No oil pressure after changing engine oil ?

If the Filter refuses to allow Oil to pass, there should be a Bypass that lets the Oil Flow, unfiltered to prevent Immediate Engine Failure. My 5.7 ran for over 100 hrs before it sounded like it had Mechanical Lifters, due to the Oil Cooler Lines being reversed, and the Anti-Drainback Valve in...

Alpha drive for a V8 whats the ratio?

I suspect the WOT Range for the Fuelie 5 liter, is 4800 - 5200 rpm. Mercury was placing that Info on the Flame Arrestor Decal

    Embarrassing question

Extra Oil will not repair any scoring/scuffing if it has happened. If the Fuel-Oil was diluted to 100:1, the engine should be okay, the 50:1 ratio is more Critical at High Load High RPM

    Embarrassing question

A Compression test only reveals issues with the Cylinder, Pistons and Rings. It can't indicate any Damage to the Crank, Connecting Rod, Piston Pin Bearings or to the Crankcase Sealing Rings. The Cylinder Walls actually require very little Lubrication.

    Embarrassing question

If, and that is a Big If, the tank had 20 gallons of 50:1 premix and you added 20 gallons, the result would be in theory 40 gallons of 100:1, but that would also assume complete mixing of the old and fresh gas... How much time running was even the slightest bit above Idle?

    Embarrassing question

How long ago did you buy this potential Anchor, and did the Dealer put in Writing it was a 4 stroke, and was there any Warranty? I'm not going to assume there any Oil in the Gas that was already in the tank, but how much fuel was in it, and how much did you add?

    Embarrassing question

You are saying you ran it without Oil added to the Gas? And the Dealer/Salesman said it was 4 stroke?

    '87 mercury outboard 115hp 6cyl

A 1987 motor would not have a Choke. It would have an Enrichment System that delivers some extra fuel to the crankcase to aid starting The control box of that era, had a button in at the Rotation Point of the Throttle Lever, that you pushed in to disengage the Gear Shift

    Embarrassing question

Welcome to iboats A late 70s engine would be Premix only. TCW-3 @50:1. I hope you haven't run it yet, without adding the Oil to the Gas

    Carb Spacer

I agree that rebuilding the original Carb is the better choice. When you buy a Remanufactured carb, it is difficult to know if it is actually has the correct Fuel Delivery Curve, or if it was originally the carb it is being resold as. There is more to a Fuel Delivery Curve than just which...
