    Easy rebuild once block is back. When you get block back prep it by cleaning and chasing all the bolt holes and then a final wash and oil. Get a 6pack, go to garage WITHOUT phone, turn radio off and start assembling...should have together in about 4 hours.

    From the looks someone dropped a carbed powerhead on the EFI midsection. If it was a EFI block someone did and good conversion as they installed the recirc system.

    Which carb ya got? Mercruser,Rochester,Weber? Mercruiser does not use a stone filter as it has the screw on WS filter for this model.

    The surge is the engine is in Quikstart has hasn't reached temp yet. Put a impeller in it yearly as these models are bad about ring locating pins coming out of piston. I rebuild 2-3 of these loopers a year for this problem.

    Timing on 1986 Mariner Outboard

    1) Is this module bad? 2) It advances the timing of switchboxes by varying the ohms resistance of bias circuit in switchboxes. 3) Really dont need it....just set timing at 22° cranking and go.

    It's a pre 1992 as it has water valve,3 piece air cover and old style trim. Cowling is not correct as states power steering and Oceans Pros are usually 25"
