    Not lack of oil or clearance....my bet is honing debris from block not cleaned properly. The damage is at intake and exhaust port and can clearly see something enter cylinder at transfer port on piston..whats the cylinder roof look like?

    Should not be any oil at that fitting as that is fuel from VST. Your fix is dangerous!!! If you have oil the cap on oil tank is not venting and has pushed oil thru VRO pump into fuel system. You need a new VRO/OMS pump and oil cap/

    Thats just a series number...the AXX number means latest model with any upgrades and special options such as wire length/mounting. Swap em and test.

    For what Merc whats for a new one($750) I myself would carry it to a starter rebuilder have fixed or search some web pages that carry Cummins starters and match it up.

    They do not make a .060 oversize...040 and .044 are max. Why would you want to bore that big? If cylinders need .060 to clean up that block is junk. Even if you could go .060 you cannot adjust ECU fuel flow with a stock unit, you would have to use an aftermarket ECU and boring will not add...

    Take 2 screwdrivers and pry it up. Appear to be wrong one anyway as should have square slot for key..
