    Yes the top seals do blow out on V-6 motors and yes fuel/oil mix will blow out . I have replaced a many over the years.

    Read post#1 again Sea..its before trimming and a V-6 will blow quicker than a lil 2 cylinder. Mr Russel since you added 50HP and gear ratio should be the same, you need to start with a 3 blade prop in the 23-26 pitch range.

    You cannot make a cylinder .020 with a hone unless you have a multi mega dollar Sunnen machine. You are wasting your time as hole won't be straight and to spec. It has to be bored. Seen several DIY motors that this was tried on and all failed as cylinder honed ended up tapered.

    That block design has been used for years.....your year model does not use a t-stat or poppet. Clean up the plates and reinstall with new gaskets and get it wet.

    You dont not want a t-stat, these engines have enough problem's with cooling.

    Bore size is 3.501 and piston 1/2" on skirt is 3.494 +/-.001. If bore measures 3.504 or larger it needs rebuilt
