120V Battery Charger Switch turning on a 12v stereo power circuit

It is an isolator (called that) but not the ones I'm use to seeing. For me its something used to tell you if its safe to use. Isolator's I'm use to seeing are connected inline with shore power ground. The LED should go off when 120VAC is removed To clarify, what is the current problem...

Mercruiser bogs only once or twice and then runs fine

GM made the 305 for many years, your saying its a carb and the narrows it some but still leaves many years Depending on the serial number its probably the choke that needs to be adjusted

Transplanted a 5.7L TBI, shift plate question....

Yes, I believe so. Looking at the manual it shows a switch open, and would assume this is normal state, but comment above list to use a jumper for Bravo. Looking further at MEFI-3 it uses a normally open as well

Volvo Penta 5.7GSI PEFS ignition control Module

The distributor is a GM AC Delco EST With saying that all modules have different advance curves. If you can find the GM number on the module use it. If no number, search the VP number and can find the Sierra brand. Not a fan of Sierra but may have to go that route

Transplanted a 5.7L TBI, shift plate question....

The ECM 3854369 is a VP number and is used on 5.7GIPHUS, GIPMDA, GIMDACE and GIIMDA acording to OBD Diagnostics. Another clue its VP are the multiple breakers Being for a VP, the ECM would not use a shift interrupter. Should be doable but Merc never used a MEFI-1 with EST ignition on a V8...

    Need a Bilge Heater

Opinion: I have not kept a boat in the water all year but have done it for a month or so with my 23 footer. I used a 60 watt light bulb placed in the blige and did not close the vents. Opened the engine hatch and it was toasty warm inside The water staying 40-50*F will not need a lot to keeps...

120V Battery Charger Switch turning on a 12v stereo power circuit

Normally you don't find a fuse on the Negative, if it blows or loses connection (as it did) then return power may find another route which could place an unexpected heavy load on smaller conductors. A galvanic isolator is installed on the 120VAC Ground, have not seen one on a 12V positive...

    Electrical short 4.3 Mercruiser 06Tahoe

Disconnect the temp switch (item 5) on the intake, this should keep the fuse from blowing. If ignition switch blows after temp is disconnected then disconnect the TKS carb https://www.mercruiserparts.com/bam/subassembly/31493/12833/90

If it feels good, then its like water flows the path of least resistance. If one cap is weak, then this is were it will leak out. When greasing watch the joint and pump slowly. You should notice the cross move a bit. I thing your good

78 johnson 115 will not start

I would run the motor off a gas can Best guess now is the gas in the tank is bad. This is why it starts if gas is put in cylinders but not from the tank.

    Electrical short 4.3 Mercruiser 06Tahoe

The TKS has 2 power feeds which can power the ignition. The TKS fuse and the 20 amp fuse from the key switch (not shown in pic) This is a simplified pic

    Electrical short 4.3 Mercruiser 06Tahoe

Thanks You don't have a IAC or TPS, you have TKS carb. Normally when the fuse blows it just keeps the carb running rich, but it does keep running. For it to start killing the motor I would look at the temp switch and the TKS module Verify you have a carb that looks like this

    Mercury throttle help please

It appears to go where arrow is pointing. Then again I'm using a diagram of maybe which is not yours. If there is a model number on the throttle this would help. The detent is held in place by other parts like item 35. The pic I'm using above is not exact so this is why I left the link so...
