Came too far for problems now

Water doesn't have to come out of the prop, there are two holes next to the transom. The pic below is not the best but shows water coming out next to the transom, these are the relief ports with an Alpha drive What drive do you have?

    Mercruiser 3.0 carb rebuild question

When shut off the carb shouldn't be leaking fuel at all. The float level needs to be adjust to spec on your sheet. It is adjusted by bending the tang as noted in the pic below. Do not bend the float arm

    Transom Assembly Repair Considerations

First sorry someone got me thinking about an ongoing issue and need to bounce it off more folks Currently there are two methods to repair the steering pinion and seal. The Merc method drills a hole on each side and installs plastic plugs to reseal. The JR Marine method cuts out a section on the...

50A Red Button On Top Of Engine

If its the 40/50amp breaker it doesn't move unless it trips, so if you press it and its not moving you should be good, unless you motor has no power. Looks something like this?

    Carburetor Port

The glass thing appears to be called a sight glass (item 9). Appears to be used prior to using clear tubing. http://www.mercruiserparts.com/bam/subassembly/31737/990/30 If it was mine, I would remove the sight glass and install a barbed fitting with tubing going to the carb.

    5.0 efi jets not spraying

Howdy Sure do like the serial numbers, the only issue is the numbers you gave are for 1998 and up Alpha 1 Gen II outdrives. Could sure use the motor serial numbers or at least the year and which size. There are very few real simple things to fix this kind of thing, but start by removing the...

    ignition wiring

There is a start relay (some call slave relay) on top the motor. When the key is turned to start it energizes a relay on the motor which sends power to the starter solenoid. Its probably going to look like one of these, or a square plastic cube

    Bog @ 3400 rpm

The main carb jets and valves. As the carb opens the air passing causes fuel to be drawn out of the bowl. As the throttle opens the needle valves are lifted out of the main metering jets.

    shift cable head scratcher

Your shift cable should be routed as in the pic below on the left As for it not shifting correctly I would go to the Adults only section, Mercruiser, then look at Chris's vid on adjusting the cable. As for the switch, I would need to see what your looking at

    Prop hub slip? '95 Maxum 4.3 L Mercruiser Alpha 1 Gen 2

Suggest pulling the drive and check the coupler. If the drive is out of alignment for long enough the drive shaft will eat up the inner coupling. Given enough time it will eat away all the teeth and start slipping. If this happens you will not smell any rubber burning. Note in pic below this...

Bravo 3 run up with water supply direct to impeller

My opinion is using a barrel on a Alpha drive for a short time is doable, but not a Bravo. The Bravo needs the water level even with the drive shaft until it starts being able to draw the water in, a barrel would not be high enough. I attached a 5/8 ID garden hose to my spare B3 drive on a...
