    Alpha one gen 2

If your boat is a 2006, it should be an Alpha one gen 2. Unless someone’s done some swapping. SEI has aftermarket drives somewhat inexpensive. A brand new drive is going to be $2,500+.. your local boat mechanic may be able to rebuild a good core

Hard plane after switch from points ignition

Delco EST does not use mechanical advance. Advance is controlled by the module

Swap drives from one boat to another. How many day project?

Did it again. Couldn’t pass it up. 1988 Regal Medallion 185. Runs perfectly, motor is clean and serviced. surprisingly it’s actually solid. Garage stored and the bilge was totally dry. Interior is partially removed but included. Rough around the edges but it’s seaworthy.. will use it until...

    Lazy alternator

That means it’s not getting power to the exite wire and needs to exite itself. Check for broken wires.. if the boat is new to you someone might have wired it as a 1 wire alt which works like that

    Fresh Mercruiser swap. No power

lol my coworkers test light is just an old bulb socket. Another coworkers is an actual GM certified test light, but the Harbor freight one I have is just as good.. GM calls for test lights quite a bit in circuit testing

    Fresh Mercruiser swap. No power

I don’t see a fuse at the starter. Just the breaker and one in the wire to the ignition switch

    Fresh Mercruiser swap. No power

Yeah I have test lights and dvoms. Problem is I don’t work near my tools. It’s at my FILs so I literally have to bring what I think I’ll need, and electrical testing wasn’t on my radar today. But that diagram will for sure help me dial it in. Thanks.

    Fresh Mercruiser swap. No power

I didn’t have a DVOM with me at the boat. I disconnected the main harness several times and re inserted it. What does that solenoid do that is right under the big plug?

    Fresh Mercruiser swap. No power

Pulling my hair out. Took a running 3.0L alpha one gen one out of a well rotten four winns. Pulled entire wiring out and I have no power at the key switch.. the mercruiser harness is still in the four winns dash panel. Nothing registers. No volts, no crank, no life. The breaker on the motor...

Swap drives from one boat to another. How many day project?

Even with the questionable engine I’m pressing on trying to breath life into it. Got the wiring in place. I left the 4 winns console connected for now. And I get no power. Not really sure what’s up. The harness looks fine. Unless the plug isn’t getting a good connection. The main breaker by...

    Transom grounding wite

Top goes to the steering arm. Bottom right connects to the engine. There’s a stud on the coupler the screw hole is in the top of the steering arm. If you are missing the screw it’s probably a 6-32. You will want stainless

Hard plane after switch from points ignition

Delco EST utilizes less advance. You may have to bring your base timing up a little to get the performance you want

    Water in coupler bell housing

The parts boat, I have no clue except possibly. That boat was so wet, and the bilge had a few inches of water standing in it when I pulled the motor. ( plug out ) I stored that boat with the motor cover over it and the mooring cover it came with, so it wasn’t flooded in my possession, but it...

    Water in coupler bell housing

This is why it’s concerning me. That’s what I thought. I pulled the starter to check on the rear main seal leak. There is grease in there as well, which doesn’t make me as nervous, but the grease could cause a seal.

    Water in coupler bell housing

How can water get into the sealed coupler bell housing on a 3.0l? My 1986 3.0L I found about 2” of water there. I pulled the starter off to investigate the oil that appears to logically be a rear main.. I winterized the engine and the block is fine. I’m going to drag another boat that is said...

    Engine swap.

You need to buy the LS3 and then all the parts to marinize it and probably use a marine cam. Crusader does use LS engines… I looked into it briefly as I have a 4.8L sitting around but the $400 4.8 would cost me about $4000 to make it run

    Mercontrol cables

I have another question relating to this… currently the 1971 control cables are hooked up to the shift linkages on the 1986 alpha one 3.0 ( valve cover mount cables )… the upper shift cable appears too long to work. Are the cable ends different? Also the throttle doesn’t seem to want to work...
