1990 90HP Pontoon, 4300 RPM at WOT, Do I need a new prop?

Yes an 11" would be better. You want to be over 5000 for sure. And as close to 5500 as you can get.

    Shifter

The 99 merc lower will fit but you will need the shift rod from the 94. That requires disassembling the lower unit. Does the linkage move behind the carb at all? Can you tilt the motor up in reverse?

I cant get this throttle set up properly. Please advise.

Joe reeves method requires you subtract 4 degrees. Do not deviate from that. You do not care about idle timing at all. Idle speed will be set in the lake in gear and warm.

    Shifter

Have you checked the linkage behind the carb? Just a plastic clip holds that together. Has the waterpump been changed and the rod pulled out?

You really have no clue do you. Tell me how many lower units or engines have been destroyed by rock strikes on SS props.

    Shifter

I believe the 99 uses a little different shift rod it has a bend at the top. Usually those lower units are robust very seldom do the just stop shifting. Might be an easy fix

1990 90HP Pontoon, 4300 RPM at WOT, Do I need a new prop?

why do you think a 150 prop will fit that motor? Stop making this so hard on yourself. you don't need to buy a Mercury or any of the other brand name props. Solas props are relatively cheap and are pretty good props. You are not running a 100 MPH boat here. Call Michigan wheel or Solas to get...

1990 90HP Pontoon, 4300 RPM at WOT, Do I need a new prop?

Almost none of that statement has any basis in fact. Except the stainless is heavier than aluminum that is true. This just proves how little is known about props. #1 stainless is better performing pretty much across the board #2 dropping pitch does not necessarily mean losing speed because the...
