    What do these knobs do?

Gee, a Fat Fifty with the original quick disconnect fitting. That is one way to do it. Of course, my Merc had a flat triangle plate with pulleys, that bolted to the steering arm. Just as solid or maybe more so.

    Fuel line problem

All fuel filters cause restriction of the fuel supply. Restriction in the fuel system can cause lean running which can easily damage an engine. A single water separator is best, as they are capable of 20 gal/hr or more.

!996 16 Ft. Vanguard Barretta Fuel Tank Size

A 16 footer will have a fuel tank of 25-30 gal, I would expect. If you get on the OEM website or kelly blue book, they may know for sure.

    Flooring Repair/Rejuvenation

Lou, if the deck is waterproof, the carpet holding moisture will not rot it. You may (may) get some mildew, however.

    Fuel line problem

A collapsed primer bulb usually occurs because the fuel tank is not venting. Pop open the fuel cap and see if the refills. if so, clean the vent.

    What do these knobs do?

Jimmbo, that is how cable/pulley steering was always attached to the motors in the late 60's and earlier. It worked fine for lower HP engines. I had a Merc 850 with cable/pully steering. I never had an issue with it, but it was more HP than generally recommended for cable/pully.

    Flooring Repair/Rejuvenation

There are a variety of floor coverings that you might like better than carpet. There is marine vinyl, and various tiles, mats and other things. These can all go over a plywood deck. The key is to make sure the deck is solid and waterproof.

!996 16 Ft. Vanguard Barretta Fuel Tank Size

Different 2 cycle oils have different color dyes. The Wallyworld and Pennzoil turn the fuel green (oil is blue). I had some Johnson oil which made the fuel light purple. Texaco oil was red. etc. The bottom line is that the fuel should be some color.

1997 Mercury 2 stroke 200 gets up to WOT then loses RPM's

Actually, Mercury makes a 4 cylinder that runs on top two carbs at idle. I do not think Mercury ever made a V6 that did that though. You might examine your spark plugs. If some are real clean, perhaps water is getting into the cylinders. The primer bulb doesn't collapse, right? You could...

    Clunking and prop slipping

Chunks of metal in the gearcase means that the gears/bearings/bushings are failing. That symptom is very bad. SEI likely makes a replacement gearcase for your motor. I have heard good things about them.

Gas - Oil Mixture on old Evinrudes outboards

I am pretty sure johnnyrudes now specify 50::1 gas/oil mix. The 100::1 mix was superceeded.

    Clunking and prop slipping

I would think you need to check the gear oil for water and pieces of metal.

Gas - Oil Mixture on old Evinrudes outboards

    Oil never unmixes from gasoline.

    Oil leak

Smell the oil to make sure it is not gear oil. Gear oil stinks like rotten eggs.

Awfull time launch & retrieve roller trailer

I had a double bow stop on a trailer, and had the same issue. You can swap out the double bow stop for a single one. You can also adjust the winch stand forward/backward. Hopefully those adjustments will fix your issue.

1982/83 70HP 3 cyl fuel pump WATER line I.D. size?

Hoses should be pretty standard. Can you take the old one to an auto parts store and see if they can match it?

how to determine the year 175 ocean pro

A 1993 motor will have carbs, I would think. The e-TEC is a different animal.

Question/Advice: Fiberglass over old Fiberglass In Bilge Area.

Don't put anything under the fiberglass. The new resin and cloth will seal just fine. The existing fiberglass just needs to be clean and a bit rough, to bond well with the new resin/glass..

how to determine the year 175 ocean pro

N is counter rotation. That should be easy to see if correct. Look for a left handed prop.

how to determine the year 175 ocean pro

The model or serial number gives the year. In your model number, that B is a strange character. Normally it is an "E" for electric starting. So a J175EXETR would be a 1993 25" shaft motor. The Crowleymarine site did not find your serial number either.
