    The original Volvo propellers that work the best are the the “elephant ear” style. The flukes are very large and if you see one you will know what I am describing. The 125-151 engines have to turn up to at least 5k which is what they are designed for. If they are over pitched it hurts them.

    You said you have the carburetors balanced, does that mean that the throttle blades are sychronized ? If not then you have to be sure that they are. What year is the engine?

    Volvo started with your design back in 1959 With the 100 model. Simplicity and well engineered. If you manage to remove the shaft and bearing finding a replacement bearing is real easy. You probably could find one at a NAPA store.

    Back in May 26 I explained what has to be done to get the bearing out. I hope that the shaft is not rusted up in the flex plate. You are going to have to finally give it a try. It appears you are good with the tools so this should not be too difficult.

    Another place to look is inside the shift slider. You of course have to pull the shift wire out first then remove the set screw. I have had to use a drill bit to clean out the build up inside.

    If the head gasket is leaking between 2&3 and you keep running it you will cause a “flame cut” either on the head or block surface. It would be a good time to have a valve job done while the head is off.

    It almost could be too much pitch on the propeller. There is a number somewhere on it. There are charts that the propeller manufacturers have that will show which one is the best for your set up.

    Get a mechanical gauge to replace the sender. That should tell if you are really losing oil pressure. It might just be the sender with an internal leaking membrane.

    Where to Buy

    Cork was what originally came on the engine. Turn the valve cover over in a vise and tap each mounting hole back so that they are flat with the mounting surface. Only use sealer lightly on the cover surface then install the cover just hand tight. Later then just a little more.

    If it is just flooding on the secondary side there has to be something wrong with the needle&seat or float adjustment. Take your time and just go over the float chamber.

    It is going to look like a standard hose barb fitting with a 1/4” npt screwed into the tank fitting. If it is made of aluminum then you should change it to a brass one. Also you should unscrew the tank fitting to check if there is a small filter in the suction tube.
