Gear lube poured out of gimbal bellows (Alpha 1 Gen 2)

It is pretty hard to see seal damage, however, the groove in the yoke is obvious, hence the leak.

Evinrude Sportwin steering linkage - need help

I did not see that in your picture. If the steering cable is mounted thru a tube, and the tube has a ball joint-like swivel, bolted to the splashwell, you just need the drag link from cable to motor. You might post a picture of the mount.

2013 Mercury 20 1F20201HK Leaking gas out the carb mouth (Solved)

I am skeptical that you have fixed the cause, with the insulator gaskets. I hope you got it. However, your issue is almost always a bad float, inlet needle and seat or adjustment problem. best of luck.

    Fuel question(s)

Jitterbug, Production outboards are designed to run on regular fuel. There is no advantage to using premium fuel. Of course, your wallet will be lighter, so maybe you will go a bit faster.

SeaStar was bought out by Dometic, it would seem. This is what you will need to convert the steering to single cable. https://www.dometic.com/en-us/outdoor/boat/marine-steering-systems/mechanical-steering/steering-accessories/dometic-support-mount-251125

    Fuel question(s)

Gee, there is still a lot of propaganda about alcohol blended gasoline. I do not have first hand knowledge about the impact of growing the corn, fermenting and distillation effects, but I do have first hand knowledge about the use of it since it was introduced. After the first tank of the...

Evinrude Sportwin steering linkage - need help

You are halfway between single cable steering and cable/pulley steering. The good news is that there are adaptors. Go on the steering cable OEM page (Teleflex or maybe now Seastar) and find a fitting to convert to single cable steering. It will have a tube and a u joint and will bolt to the...

    Spark plug

Vic, I was under the impression that the OIS (optical ignition) need to use the "Q" suppressor sparkplugs, e.g. QL78YC. I did not think the oil injection system required the "Q" suppressor.

Freak fluke all 8 spark plugs burn out at same time !!!?

Is there any foreign substance on the white porcelain of the spark plug? Maybe some kind of oil or saltwater? It sounds like the spark is travelling down the porcelain to the shell and then to the block. Wipe 'em off with some solvent and then fresh water and retry.

hull repair needed along lower rake

Make the repair twice as thick as the original, adding heavy roving on the inside, and you should be fine. Epoxy resin is a good idea. Also, make sure to foam it, as the foam adds considerable strength.

Replacing my brake lines with rubber lines

There are stainless steel brake lines. You can either replace the old ones with those or with galv steel and rinse the trailer better. Cable ties can hold the lines to the frame, but those don't last forever in the sun, so have replacements ready to zip on.

    WMK-22 question 76 Merc 1500

None of my 1500 carbs had that bb in the idle restrictor passage. I would think that would disable the idle circuit completely. I would be surprised if the motor would run with that bb installed. I would remove it, and save it for now, get the motor running perfectly and then toss it.

    WMK-22 question 76 Merc 1500

Once you put a bb in the backdrag hose, the vent (or backdrag jet) doesn't have any effect. It is simply a vent for the carb bowl. I ran the backdrag circuit on my 1500, w/o issue. Did it help with fuel economy, I have no idea.
