    bottom line.. fill it and keep cyciling up and down as you keep refilling to top it off . this will purge any air in the syst. single ram T&T are used on some ETEC (like my 75)..from the manual :-)

    why not not just buy a new pump... some don't cost much more than gasket kits. Try a cheap one on Amazon ... I know it is not OEM (sacriledge) but it will get you going.

    the more modern engines evolved from oldies with their simpler designs .Modern capacitance discharge ignitions are simpler in design (less or no mechanical parts) but the mechanics have not drastically changed. to read up on oldies a cheap book to "learn" from is the Johnson...

    3- 4- 5 hp etc... all have the same basic structure if you plan to service small engines you need to get yourself manuals or seach utubes for your engine... make certain impeller blades will turn clockwise looking down at it when installed

    make certain the top vent is open while running and make certain the air holes are not crudded shut . before you tear into it (carb) try some evinrude engine cleaner in the fuel run it awhile it may clear up. some use/like seafoam some don't like it.

    based on the parts listing you may have a simple full wave diode rectifier (2 yellows a red and frame grounding via the mounting bolt see pict.ures. $45 .. if you want a more stable voltage control you need a regulated rectifier 2 yellows a red and a separate wire to frame ground...

    red is power sometimes directly off the battery and DOESN'T mix well with black please post picture of name/mdl plate follow the burnt red wire ...where does it go to ?? post pictures being burnt indicate high current and if current flowed in the switch the contacts may be welded...
