    Gear shift position does not matter on this motor.-----Just take one screw out of the brass connecter !

    Try adjusting the black plastic thing ( trunnion ) on the cable.---Slight preload against the idle stop screw.

    Your location ?---For just the bottom half.------Any year Johnson / Evinrude 10 HP from 1958 to 1963.-----Any year 5.5 / 6 HP from 1955 to 1979 model.-----And of course the 9.5 from 64 to 1973 use that skeg.-----I know where to find lots of them.

    Most Toyota engines are " clearance " engines.-----Lost the belt on an 84 Supra inline 6.----Put a new one on and it ran like normal again.

    Johnson marketed a 10 in 49----Evinrude started that in 56 with a 10 HP.-----Not all models were the same between the 2 divisions in the early years.-----Up to 57 the 10 HP used the 18 HP gearcase.
