    60 is on the low side but has indicated in Leroy's article these are not very high compression engines. it may come back up after a good run . try some engine cleaner in the fuel . some like SEAFOAM some don't . my honda snowblower loved it .. it cured the coughing

    just use as indicated. don't make this to complicated or worrisome use the 55 gal drum if worried about pollution.... imho no need for extra cooling water your may need to be freshen up with a good cleaning of all orifies and passages especially anything to do with the low speed circuit...

    it may have overheated long time ago ?? how is it ? does it turn or stuck solid check gear case for condition suggest you remove the cyl head and look inside while it is out you can always brush it up and recoat with high temp. paint for cosmetic reasons.. careful not to break...

    any clue as to what in the new kit actually fiixed it all up.... was it sucking air in via the poorly packed LS needle do you think ? . the rest is float , carb gasket orifices , donut washer etc...

    to add... my 75hp ETEC 2005 has been flawless or near flawless for 17 going on 18 years. Before they R.I.P'd Evinrude my only issue was false NO OIL code 38 fixed by BRP in year 7 of ownership thanks to the proof logged in the EMM fault log memory..... since new . AT 73 it is my last one...

    1992 40 Johnson carbs leaking

    heavy as in fuel logged (Soaked) versus ... waterlogged... the carb float normally rises with fuel and shuts off the inflow of fresh fuel in the carb ..... but just like your toilet bowl.... if your float ...does not float up water keeps leaking in the toilet bowl.... same for carbs...

    if fixing a leaky GC is not your piece of cake and shop repairs are to much $$$$... oil is cheap and some just replace it mid season.

    why not tell us if you popped the dime size plug on top to clean the low speed circuit of the carb. did you confirm carb cleaner flow via all orifices did you line up the proper carb gasket mounting holes... all of them incl. the side channel to the top half of the carb ??
