    I never went so far as to do rings on an oldy but have you looked into alternatives such as an engine cleaner like Merc POWER TUNE and BRP equivatents, pulled the cyl head to check/confirm excessive wear, checked the rings condition by openning the side bypass covers, ??

    round white washers (seals) that fit the bolt... not rubber... more like white nylon plastic... very common outboard part don't use hardware store stuff because the plastic material is much harder

    UP is for the TOP plug if... the plug wire is connected to the proper coil :-) Front coil is TOP cyl.

    With all the smaller oldys (maybe limited to 20 or so ) I have refurbished from early 50 to late 60s what I found was is all of them ran good and never had to dump one. I actually never had to crack one open to do pistons .rings etc... Just lucky I guess I think all these engine...

    Motor won’t turn over

    quick test..... turn the key to START.... and have a buddy twist and bend all wiring accessible incl. connectors if any... if you get a reaction you found a broken wire check all battery wires and connections ...clean and shiny does it sometmies :) battery all charged up isn't it ???

    good old carb with simple HS jet behind the lower carb bolt. how about opening it up and at minimum blasting it with carb cleaner... if you do not have a compression meter for step #1
