    They all run nice on a hose.----Might be running on 3 of 4 cylinders or 2 of 3 cylinders.----Does spark jump a gap of 3/8" on all leads , yes or no?-----Test run with another tank and hose.

    Get the boat done.-----Motors are easy to find.----And 3 cylinder Mercury motors do not have a cylinder head that can be taken off.----Somebody stated that your motor might have been a Mercury !

    The 1980 models with trim / tilt came with a 10 amp system.----But it is 40 years later.----No telling what is on there now.----Part # on your stator is ??

    The mounting gasket is NOT needed on the 70 HP models.-----Post a picture of the diaphragm------I doubt the fuel pump is the issue.----What other trouble shooting was done if any.-----Is there bogging when your co-captain operates the manual fuel pump?----Tried running with another fuel...

    I do not believe that the wiring is factory original.----Therefor I can not be of any help on this motor.-----I can not see your motor or the wiring.------Good luck with it !

    Sorry---I can not work on your motor.----Or see these parts.-----I have more than 1 of these motors.----I only know of part #34 on these.

    I would say that putting a red and black on the same terminal is a mistake.-----Are there 2 identical looking switches on this motor?.-----One that you push to start.----And one that is pushed by the shift lever when motor is in neutral ?

    That would be a 1980 model.-----Hooking up wires by guessing can lead to expensive smoke / repairs.-----You need to find a wiring diagram for it.----Very easy for me to sort this out.----But for some reason wires and 12 volts are difficult to explain from my desk.
