    1969 25 Hp Johnny Rude/Kicker?

A little dark and wet, was the motor idling alot before you pulled the plugs? Long periods of very slow of idling can cause that, but if the motor was run hard and the plugs are that dark, that could mean a rich condition..

    4 Blade?

Generally speaking, a 4 blade will give better boat control at low speeds, generally will get your boat up on plane a little quicker, better fuel mileage will only be a slower speeds, as your speed increases a 4 blade will use more fuel due to the extra drag in the water. For that same reason...

Which States/Provinces Enforce Registration Numbers Requirements

The biggest reason that you dont get tickets for 5 mph over is...the mfgrs only garentee the speedometers accuracy to 10% of actual speed. Anyone can request an odometer/ speedometer accuracy statement from any vehicle manufacture and they all hold up in court !! In my younger days, I used...

Merc 4 stroke worn out with low hours

A couple of the local marine mechanics in my area have expressed concern about premature engine wear on these newer four strokes. Much conversation over the past few years about how they are seeing faster than normal engine wear, especially with smaller 4 strokes. Are we pushing these motors to...

    Recoil pawl evinrude 25 hp

If all else fails, hit up your local marine parts supplier, they should be able to look that up and let you know. The big dealer/ parts marina in my area still have acess to older parts microfitch sheets. They seem to be able to find anything I have ever looked for.

    Boat ramp courtesy

I believe Ohio is somewhere in those years. Just three winters back I wanted my grandkids to get there operators permits for boating. I went along andvtook the class with them even though my 70 yr age didn't require it. Actually learned some things in that class and I have owned a boat for...

    Boat ramp courtesy

Unless you are older than a certain age. I do believe that with the number of boats out there today, some sort of testing/ licensing should be created. I see way to many mistakes, close calls, required tows, and well...someone is gonna get hurt bad !!

Look what was clogging my fuel line

My question is....do we have a bunch of fuel lines comming apart on the inside, or, is our fuel quality suffering and all this crap is comming from bad fuel? I know in my area I have to watch where I buy my fuel.

    New Johnson J35EL CND

First thing would be to check compression and see if motor is worth getting it running. If comp is good then get an oem factory rebuild kit for the carbs!! Just a quick clean rarely works, and a rebuild kit will give you all the proper settings to get you started. When it comes to boats and...

    Snap On Boat Cover

I would try to duplicate the old cover as long as it worked in the past, if you cant, find a cover specialist in your area. If no boat cover folks, look for car collectors, the people that do auto interiors sometimes do boat covers on the side.

    How does RV financing work?

Should be looking at other ideas....RV's unless newer models are horrible on depreciation and hard to resell. Just like a boat, they are holes in which you pour money! With interest rates high like they are, you will need an awesome credit score to get bearable payments, even then you will loose...

    1994 Mariner 9.9 issues

    1969 25 Hp Johnny Rude/Kicker?

Just looked up capacities on 16' x 54" jon boats...avg weight capacity is over 950 lbs so you should be fine in smaller bodies if water and rivers. Obviously you shouldnt venture out in large lakes on windy days with a jon boat. You mentioned your 20" transom, even better as that can add...

    1969 25 Hp Johnny Rude/Kicker?

You will find that 5-10 hp kickers are higher prices as everyone wants one for a kicker. Supply and demand !! I use a little 2.2 hp merc on my 1000lb 16' Sylvan as a kicker, not gonna ski with it, but it runs most of the day on a gallon of gas!! I found one in mint condition, a garage queen...

    Electricsl problem

I have that same setup on my side x side, I just followed the diagram that came with the switch. There was an extra wire added if you wanted the switch to light up when turned on, or another version to have the switch lit up all the time. Been a few years back will see if I can find the diagram.

Safest way to pay for items from private, out of state sellers ?

Something I have used in the past was a paypal " invoice" either sent to a customer for payment or I ask the seller to send me one. The invoice just uses paypal as a middleman. I use my credit card ( one that guarentes my purchase) to pay the invoice after a long talk with the seller/ buyer...

Yamaha runs awesome, will not re-start after running???

Motor should never get that hot to worry about a cooling down period. If it is, then that is a sign of an overheating problem.
