    Probably trim limit switch is bad, you can jumper it out just need to be careful not to trim up too high. Long term replace the switch but this is best done when doing bellows and you have transom apart

    If you have the style of gimbal bearing install tool that uses the alignment tool with a hole in it to hold a disc pushing the gimbal you may have been pounding on the splines. metal piece dont thing it is ring gear or starter gear tooth ?..

    No the idle circut is for idle Through about 1800 rpm. Primary and secondary are for when throttle is open primaries open first then as you continue on to full throttle secondaries open. Do your self a big favor and get the technical manual for this carb read up on how it works. Or buy a holley...

    Merc puts them on with loctite its just pushed on, so most of the time you have to destroy it to get it off… i used a chisel the last time.

    Restriction up stream either clogged screen (some are inside pick up tube), leak in connections so you are sucking in air, anti siphon valve is clogged, collapsed fuel line, maybe a clogged fuel tank vent line but would think that would not happen while idling

    You may want to have mods move this to Merc OB section - but yes your thought about the water pump is not turning thus drive shaft is broken is probably correct. As for why you probably have to drop the lower and look at driveshaft to see

    I used universal fit heater hose for my thermostat to riser hoses vs preformed ones, so no issue as long as you can make it fit and get the right diameter

    What kenny said - just looking for why the piston broke and what condition the bore is in. He mentions lock n stich and other types of cast iron repair which is the right way to do it, just likely exceeds cost of used head. Was this a salt water boat ?

    If it should have a 17 the 19 will make holeshot worse. Assuming engine is in good shale and maintained you want to go lower in pitch than what u have on their now. What was the wot rpm with current prop? And whats the pitch
