Most smaller boats (<30ft) will benefit from trimming to get optimum speed or economy. For standard performance boats, setting the trim tab so steering is easy at usual trim level is the way to go, IMHO. She will pull right a bit when trimmed down, but as soon as you get on plane, hit the trim...

Any lasting proven method of painting a prop ??

Sure, sand the prop, wipe with turpentine, immediately apply etching spray primer (available in rustolium rattle can) and gloss black spray paint. Now don't hit bottom and the paint will stay on.

    MERCURY CONTROL BOXES

The bullet connectors are standard on my '93 Merc. I expect the spade connectors are a "modification". I would replace the spade connectors with bullet connectors.

Trimming and trim tabs also cancel out steering torque.

2005 115 Johnson PLSOR dies off idle

New jets and the bowl plugs do not usually come with the new bowls or carb kits. usually you get gaskets and inlet needles and seat. Sometimes floats. However, if you did not swap the main jets over to the new bowls, the motor would run real rich. Your carbs may have an intermediate...

Gee, go with the correct length (Merc) motor on the aquasport. If it feels squirrely with the single cable NFB system, you can consider hydraulic, I think it will be fine, however. My neighbor has a twin 225HP Outrage. He was going 50+MPH, and needed to turn his hydraulic steering wheel...

    Gel coat vs Epoxy paint

High end yachts are painted with 2 part polyurethane paint. Awlgrip and Imron are two of those. They give superior shine, but are expensive and hard for us amateurs to apply. One part polyurethane paints are very shiny and durable, nearly as durable as gelcoat, but much better finish. They...

Alarm on 150 2 stroke outboard

Is that an old Merc/Mariner? Most overheat alarms work by grounding the signal wire to the block. These wires are usually brown or brown/white. If the insulation falls off, then can short to ground tripping the alarm.

    Cushion and Seat Rebuild

Just seal the plywood well with one of the coatings recommended. It will last the length of the vinyl's life. My '98 Seaswirl has some kind of 1/4 plastic for the bow backrest cushions. You can staple to it, and it lasts forever, but is not structural. The structural components are plywood.

I have never compared the rotary to the rack. I do have one of each with the same HP, but on very different boats. I expect one style to fit better in the boat dashboard than the other. Well, my 21' Seaswirl with the 150 Ocean Runner, is rated for 200HP. It had the one cable NFB Rotary...

2005 115 Johnson PLSOR dies off idle

Those motors tend to do that. Some think it is heat soak. The work around is to run them at high idle in neutral until they start to run clean. They should then behave normally, until you shut them off, and restart them after 30 minutes.. You might test your thermostats. I have a theory...

I run a single cable NFB on my 21 footer with a 150HP Ocean runner. I would think that Merc 200 would work as well. Is that Merc a 2.0L motor? If so, you might consider the Evinrude as it is a 2.5L motor which I would think will have more bottom end.

Use dry PT plywood and cover it with spar urethane or polyester resin. Stainless steel screws and Stainless steel staples as well.

Gee, those coils were made in West Germany. So they are pre 1991! That point base also looks real rusty.

    Stand-alone tilt/trim pump

Brian, the test is to pull up on the motor with your hand. If she moves, you need to bleed the rams.

    Steady Buzzer Sound

Something else I thought of. If you pull the main plug the buzzer may stop, since it is disconnected. In that case, you will need to look for voltage on the accessory/ign wire at the engine plug. I would expect the wire to be purple.

    Tach for Merc outboard

It very likely does. The tachometer takes black, purple and grey wires. You will need the adaptor that brakes out the 4 wire plug. I bought one last year, but cannot remember it's part number. It took a bit of doing to get the P/N from Mercury, but I think amazon had the cable. Check on...

    1974 Merc 1500 Telltale issue

Those exhaust tubes are tricky to get them in correctly, as the seals can bend and clog the tubes. Drop the lower unit and put a garden hose on the water tube and turn on the water a very small amount. Now water should come out the prop, gratings above the A-V plate and telltale. If not, the...

    Steady Buzzer Sound

Those Mercruisers have a single plug that connects the boat to the engine. If the wiring on that is not the issue, and you installed the ign switch correctly (3 wires, power, starter solenoid, accessory/ign), I am not sure what could cause it. If you disconnect it and the alarm still sounds...

    Water in oil

The gasket surface on those manifolds does not look good. Usually the risers are worse. You can try to sand them down (heavy emery paper on plate glass), and see if they can be trued up. They are not very rusty, which is good. How old are they?
