    WOT rpm range

There are several theories. Some will prop as close to the upper end with a Light Load, others will prop closer to the Rpm where the engine is making peak HP. That can be difficult to find and it not always what the Spec says. Case in Point, for years OMC made a 90hp, a 115, and a 140, all...

Make sure you are actually using the Anti-Ventilation Plate(often wrongly called Cavitation Plate) for your measurement

1998 Mercruiser 5.0 Intake manifold gasket mismatch issues

Okay I see that once you explained it. I wonder if someone removed some metal off of the Intake at some point. You said the engine had been rebuilt before you bought it. If the rebuilder had removed a lot of Metal from the Heads, it would change how the Ports on the heads lined up with the ports...

2002 Mastercraft 5.7 harmonic balancer moving in and out

That Crank was cracked for a while, likely dropped on the factory floor, and put back into Inventory by an Employee who didn't want to get yelled at.

1998 Mercruiser 5.0 Intake manifold gasket mismatch issues

When you said gaps, I was lead to believe there was a port being exposed to Atmosphere or Crankcase. Different Intakes and Heads can have different sized Ports, so the Gaskets are generally made for the Biggest Ports used in Production Intakes, so with intakes/heads with smaller ports, there...

AV Plate 2 3/8" above the hull bottom? That is the setup for a boat going over 60mph Is this a new boat and motor, or just 'new to you'?

1998 Mercruiser 5.0 Intake manifold gasket mismatch issues

They have appeared since my earlier post. Earlier, it said "View Attachment" at each spot The first pic appears that they fit/line up well, the second ??. the 3rd ?? However, How do they match the ports on the Head? Every intake gasket I have used for the later SB Chevy, had the silicone bead...

Johnson 55hp 1979 snapped bolt after following manual. Why?

A lot of people live by 'If Enough is Good, More is Better, and Too Much is Just Right', when it comes to tightening Bolts/Nuts/Screws

    Acceptable trailering?

Class 2 is up to 3500lbs. So if your unit is less below that, you are fine. 2" Balls can be had in both Class 2 or Class 3 versions. I did tow my current boat with a Class 2 Hitch for a couple of years, though it was exceeding the capacity by a couple of hundred pounds. One night some drunk rear...

Converting from vertical 2x4 to horizontal 2x6 bunks

The only trailers EZLoader puts bunks that narrow are very light trailers, 600 and 800 lb models, so even on edge, the weight per square inch isn't all that great. Trailers of greater Capacity will have longer and wider bunks

    Hole shot, Mercruiser 4.3L

The hole shot isn't fine if you can't pull a skier up. Torque, rather than HP is more critical for Hole Shot, Increases to top end HP, usually lower Low Rpm Torque.

Have 14x19 4 blade on 4.3 GXi. Upgrade to Stainless Steel worthwhile?

Again a 19ft with a 4.3... Ditching the 4 blade would be a good idea, a Prop that has adjustable Venting could help getting the engine to rev up to where it has more Torque to get the boat planing with a Skier behind, and dropping the Pitch to where the engine would be about 500-700 rpm above...

2002 Mastercraft 5.7 harmonic balancer moving in and out

And you would need to take/send the ECM out for a reprogram because of the Displacement change, and perhaps a different intake to flow more Air, for the same Reason.

    Hole shot, Mercruiser 4.3L

Even though I have been Chastised for saying this, I will do so again, a 4.3 is simply too small to use in a boat longer than 17ft, if water sports other than Wakeboarding are tried. Torque at low Rpms is too low, especially if they are trying to get more HP at the top end. Propping for skiing...

    Torque Roll?

Just tell people you have to balance the load in the boat being small. Starboard is the Right Side when Viewed from behind, a Prop spinning Clockwise(RH) should cause a Boat to List to Port.
