    Opinions vary on this topic.----I would simply pick up a bad Johnson / Evinrude 115 HP for say $200 or so.----Rebuild that.-----In my wildest dreams I would not spend $5400 on that motor.----Well , maybe $1500 to replace 1 piston with O/S one !!

    Once again we need to state it.------The water pump must be well submerged in a test bucket.----Raise water level by about 12" or so.

    Throw that compression tester away and get a good one.----Should read about 120 + PSI on a good motor.

    A 20 HP marketed in Canada ?----Steps for you to take.-----I assume it has the gearcase that splits.-----If so find the seal kit # for say a 1992 model 28 HP.----It lists the contents and part numbers.-----Now go to the 83 model 25 HP and compare part numbers.----Order the 28 HP kit if it all...

    Model # required.-----There are 2 different 115 HP motors in 1996 model year.----If it is a crossflow you need to charge battery.----Have battery load tested.-----Inspect starter motor and do ohm test on armature.

    No need for a ring compressor.----I just use my finger nails or small screwdriver.----Never an issue that way.

    Water pump issues

    Normal on a 2 stroke to spit some oil out.----It is likely the oil that you miz in the gas.---.----But make sure fuel pump diaphragm is not ruptured.----Make sure float valves are working.-----Does primer bulb on the hose go hard?
