    The primer bulb must go hard.-----Find the leak.-----Check the diaphragm in the fuel pump.-----The fuel pump must work to provide fuel pressure to the primer valve !

    Need to look at the control or post a picture here.-----Most control boxes have a feature where you can disable the shift function for starting and warm up.-----Or hurry to your local friendly boat shop to learn how.-----No need to make any adjustment on motor carburetor linkages at all.

    What is the part number for a NON VRO fuel pump

    Simple to find the pulse port.----Look in front of the starter motor.-----You will find 2 holes with 10-24 NC thread.----About 2" apart.----Find a plug in-between them.-----Remove the plug for the pulse port.----Plug the pulse port that was used for the VRO pump.--Simple as can be.

    Does spark jump a gap of 3/8" or more on a test device.----Sparkplugs are not involved with this test.-----Primer bulb MUST go hard.-----If not you have a leak somewhere.----Perhaps a float / float valve issue.----Fuel pump diaphragm ruptured.----Leaks on hose or primer bulb.

    Drain gear oil and look for metal bits.------And you can run with a timing light ( 1 cylinder at a time ) to see if there is an ignition issue.------Changed fuel filters ?-----New water pump impeller installed.

    Fairly common.----The head is warped so it needs to be resurfaced before you install a new head gasket.-----Go buy a lottery ticket.

    Steel is porous !!-----It does not look like it to the naked eye but water finds it's way in there !-----Something called -----intergranular corrosion.----Look it up using --google.-----Chance to learn the finer points on material behavior.

    You now have information that you did not want.----Pull the head off now.----Easy to do as indicated earlier.

    Believe it or not steel is porous.-----Water has a way of getting in there.----Corrosion is under the surface and you can not see it.----I say those bearing will lead to a ---" dynamic halt " ---at some time.----Maybe not in 1 hr but you risk it.
