    That would be a 140 powerhead as I clearly stated it appears to be a 1979 powerhead rated 140 HP at the powerhead.----Would be around 120 HP at the prop.----Post your compression test numbers.

    What RPM do you get with the 17" pitch ?----I think 17" pitch is too much.----I do not believe you want more pitch here.----Hurry and read up on props and boat speed.----Or talk to your local boat experts.

    Is the serial # the same between powerhead and sticker in picture #2 ??----Does exhaust cover have a bubble or is it flat.-----Post picture of exhaust cover.

    There should be no issue adjusting the carburetors with the motor running on your favorite lake or river.

    Some pressurized water has a lot more air than lake water.----This comes out of solution and may form an air pocket.----Or open your valve on the hose to wide open.

    I believe your machinist friend can assist with where the interference is happening.---You could use a mini grinder and take 1/8" off the drive shaft.----See if that solves it.

    That hose is for supplying water pressure to a speedometer.----Has nothing to do with your water pump, none whatsoever.

    Fact-----When you have it idling real smooth and sounding fantastic it is often too lean.------So the no $$$ spent thing is to open all 3 low speed mixture needles 1/8th turn and test run at the lake.---If it still stumbles open another 1/8th turn.----May not idle as smooth but that is the way...

    A simple repair kit likely would have fixed the original one.----There is not much that goes wrong with these reliable primer valves.---Same unit for about 30 years.

    The neutral safety switch only prevents the starter motor from cranking if the motor is in gear.-----The neutral safety switch has nothing to to with being a rev limiter.-----Shift interrupt switch in not installed on your motor either.-----You need a manual and need to do some simple trouble...

    No the splines and count are not different !!----The issue is changes made in length of splines and depth of the hole in the crankshaft !----Back all the bolts out 2 turns and tell me what happened.-----Sorry , I am not there to help you and point all this out.----I discovered this issue years ago !

    Double that estimate.----Time taken from removal of first bolt to turning the key to start it.----And likely more.------You need to go over carburetors.----Starter motor.----Fuel pump.-----Cylinder head covers.

    As clearly stated the friction on the wee spring link pulls the pawl into position.----So check that.----If pawl is new , make sure it is not binding on the pin.
