    Well those are intake covers.---Those 4 are NOT exhaust covers.----The exhaust cover is at the back in between the cylinder heads.

    Just be patient .----A buyer for your 115 HP ( if in fact like new ) will come along.-----There are some wise boat owners who will recognize value in that motor.

    Step #1 is to have a look at the water pump impeller.-----A golden rule is ---" Install a new impeller in a new to you boat motor "------Still amazing how many sellers will demonstrate that motor starts / runs and without cooling water to the impeller.

    So you installed a replacement powerhead ?---Did you determine the cause of the powerhead failure ?-----Did you inspect / trouble shoot all your old parts before installing on the rebuilt.-----Hopefully you do not cause the same issue again.

    Well----water is heavier than oil.----If there was water in the gear case it would come out the drain hole first.----If water came out the top it would indicate problems for sure.----What exhaust covers and how many of them did you remove so that you could see the crank and rods ?

    Perhaps water leaked into the motor ?----How did you line up connecting rod caps when you torqued them ?

    If you post the serial # someone might be able to look up on the points.----1970 model really means nothing as years are often a wild guess.

    Is asking if you see spark output from the coil itself.---Bypassing rotor cap and wires.

    Something like that would work if you made sure to put correct load on the spring.----Perhaps J-B weld epoxy can also be used in some way.

    The spring holds a wee disc / check valve in place.-----I know how to fix that if it were mine.------Would involve drilling wee holes along with wee screws to hold that spring in place.
