    I would install an electric primer valve from a Johnson or Evinrude.----Does the same thing as your spray bomb without all the work.-----Push the key in and motor will be running !!

    Nope ----You want to see the lightning storm on a test device.---Set the gap at about 1/4".-----Easy to make a test device with wire glued on cardboard.

    Agreed test run with timing light one cylinder at a time.----Observe the light.----And the steady stream coming from the tell tale indicates that water pump is working.-----But that does NOT indicate that motor is cooling properly !!

    Compression is low.-----Remove cylinder head.----Inspect cylinders.-----Head gasket is cheap.----Not much effort involved.----Will tell you a lot.

    " Hit the primer ball "---Means nothing to me !----How big was the hammer ?-----So when you squeezed the ball was it pumping fuel ?----How many squeezes to fill the carburetor ?----Did the bulb go hard?-----I would test run with another tank and hose.

    I say the bottom carburetor needs attention.----At 95 PSI on that I would pull the cylinder head to inspect cylinder.-----Head gasket is cheap.

    Perhaps a local shop with a grey haired wrench turner has a ----MERC-O-TRONIC-magneto analyzer.------That can be used to fully test the coil , condenser , rotor and cap.----You can not find a pin holes in the rotor with your vision.

    If the engine bogged with the spray it tells me the top carburetor is working.-----If the spray in the bottom picks up the speed then the bottom carburetor is NOT working.---Should be an easy fix.----What fuel pump is on this motor?----95 PSI is too low in my opinion.

    '84 evinrude 6hp E6RCRM

    The 84 model 6 hp is nothing special.-----First came out as a 7.5 HP in 1980.-----Then was marketed as an 8 and 6 HP up to about 2005 or so.-----Basically all the same year after year.

    Once the pressure is gone nothing comes out of that valve.----When motor is cranking the pump puts fuel through this valve.----This fuel should pulse out of the primer valve when motor is cranking.

    There are several options .-----And it may involve changing the shift rod over from say a 115 HP crossflow motor.----And there were several years where the V-6 lower unit was used on the V-4 90 degree looper.

    Test the electric primer valve function.----Sounds like it is not working as designed.----This primer is a valve.---It is not a pump.

    In the bottom of the carburetor bowl you will find the high speed jet ( orifice plug )---It is about 5/8" long with 1/4-20 thread.------It is way inside there.----And are you pushing the key in while cranking it over ??----What starting procedure are you using on this motor.
